Knapp Shippen - Secluded Cottage

Knapp Shippen is on the North Devon Atlantic coast, tucked away on a hillside in beautiful isolation. Situated in a designated area of outstanding natural beauty it's moments away from the beach and the SW coast path. With panoramic views over three valleys, it's the perfect place to unwind. Accessed via a 2-mile track over farmland, arrival during daylight hours is essential. During winter access to the cottage is by our 4x4, aka mud shuttle. It's EXTREMELY secluded but magical! The space Located within an area of outstanding natural beauty, we are moments from the SW coast path and an 8-10 minute walk down the cliff path to Welcombe Mouth Beach. Please note the access to Knapp Shippen is a 10-minute drive over National Trust Farmland, along a 2-mile track that runs adjacent to cliffs. It is an adventure to get there (with views to reward you) and we are on a rugged and wild coast with weather that can match so the access is not for the faint-hearted!!! Please also note the cottage has a Public Footpath that runs through our garden, so do expect to see walkers peering longingly at the cottage as they walk past. Other things to note We are extremely remote! Access is by 4x4 vehicle only as our track is across open fields or alternatively, it can be accessed by foot up the public footpath from the road in the valley below. We have a 4x4 'mud shuttle' (aka Terry) which can be used, at your own risk, by prior arrangement. If you do use 'Terry' we do ask that you top up the petrol used, with the Petrol Can in Terry. The views are worth it though! 8-) Our water is sourced from our own borehole, which is tested for purity annually. We have a public footpath that runs directly through our garden which is great for easy access to the surrounding countryside but don't be alarmed if you spot walkers passing by during your stay. We are in the middle of the countryside and have plenty of wildlife and farm animals directly outside.
