Close to Boone/Appalachian State and Valle Crucis, Ward cottage sits on 100 acres with private hiking trails, firepit, and treehouse. Offering two living spaces - the main house, sleeps 6 & carriage house (above the garage), sleeps 2-3. Our home features decor from local artists and Southern Highland craftsmen as well as cable and WiFi - close to fishing, tubing, & hiking as well as galleries, The Mast Store & dining. Rest, relax, & rejuvenate in this peaceful setting. The space The Ward Farm has been in our family for more than 10 generations. However, the house was built in 1993. The main house has 3 bedrooms, 2 baths (sleeps 6), large living room, dining room, well-stocked kitchen, laundry, and a two car garage on one level . The carriage house, located above the garage, has it's own entrance up a flight of stairs and includes a second kitchen, living room, sleeping area (sleeps 2), child's sleeping nook, and bathroom. The house is decorated with arts and crafts from the Southern Highland region from the past 100 years, as well as salvage from the original Georgian farmhouse that once sat on the farm. It is located just off scenic US-321 and has beautiful views out the many large front windows. Since it sits on 100 private acres, it hosts a variety of flora and fauna - feel free to pick the blackberries and raspberries if they are ripe. Guest access Guests will have access to the main house, carriage house (over garage), garage, surrounding woods/trails, treehouse, and wildflower meadow. The basement of the home is not accessible by guests - you don't want to go down there anyway, Spiders - eek! Other things to note Lady Bugs! We have lots of them. In the mountains they are used to control the aphid population on Christmas tree farms. So, at certain times of the year you may find an over-abundance of them inside and out - they don't bite and they are kind of cute.
