The space If you would ever ask me what is the nicest about my house in the very heart of the village...I would certainly answer: It's the ROOF TERRACE!!! Just imagine, sitting up there. on a warm, romantic summer evening, sipping a glass of champagne and looking down onto the soft dancing lights of the village.. Have breakfast with the spectacular view of the sea and the horizon of the high mountains. I assure you: You will feel very, very special! More: Just in case you don't feel like cooking, simply walk down to the main square (it only takes 90 seconds ) and have some of these delicious "tapas" Andalusian style! My recommendation: Try the 'calamari a la plancha' ( grilled squid ) with a serious amount of garlic! I assure you, you will never ever forget that taste! As you have certainly guessed by now, I had fallen in love with this village, and also the pretty house which was a ruin until 5 years ago. I rolled up my sleeves and after 3 years the result was this comfortable "nest" for two . Believe me, people thought I was totally mad when I purchased the ruin......... But nowadays things have changed dramatically: My neighbors have now accepted me and my " outrageous" way of doing things. I simply am for them, this unusual Englishman with limitless and passionate creativity in his brain and blood. Right, enough of my romantic feelings. Here the mere facts & figures: My little home is tucked away in a small quiet street in the Moorish mountain village of Canillas de Aceituno. The house has one double-bedroom and open plan dining and living areas The big wooden door is opening onto the tiny pedestrian street below. The bathroom has been created using natural stone and beach pebbles and boasts two skylights giving plenty of sunlight. There is a wood burning stove for the winter and spring months, keeps you warm as toast. Ever thought of spending Christmas or New years eve here in Andalucia? In my house we have had in he past the most incredible Christmas Lunches ....we cooked together, had a couple of glasses......or more...... The same goes for NEW YEARS EVE: Party, Party and after midnight continue partying on the main square with the villagers.... SO: You are welcome! The apartment is totally insulated throughout including double glazing. Parking is very close and convenient. And: Last but certainly not least : There's the large roof terrace with a built in barbecue overlooking the village with the sea and the mountains of Morocco in the distance. The village has banks, supermarkets, a pharmacy, fresh fish market and a post office. There is Friday morning market in the Square selling fresh fruit and vegetables. Many restaurants and tapas bars are always open every day. There is a very large swimming pool within walking distance. Canillas de Aceituno is located on the border of the Sierra Tejada Nature Reserve. When hiking in the Park you will find waterfalls, picnic areas and an abundance of wildlife. The broad sandy beach at Torre del Mar is a 15 minute drive away. The promenade seems to stretch forever with most beautiful gardens alongside the beach. If you enjoy cycling ? There is an new designated cycle path that runs next to the gardens and alongside the beach. Guest access The house is totally private Other things to note Canillas de Aceituno is a Mountain village, and in certain parts of the village there are wide street steps to access most of the houses , this includes my property. Although there are only a few steps to the house? It has been brought to my attention that i must mention the location of the property in a tiny pedestrian street which is not accessible by car . Parking is in the square which is a 3 minute walk.
