Situated next to the Middle Fork of the Purgatoire River which provides a lovely “white noise” to fall asleep to every night! Complete access to river and when weather allows a scenic fire pit at the rivers edge. The space The comfortable cabin you’ll be staying in is on one end of a spectacular mountain home that looks out on to the Middle Fork of the Purgatoire River. Your space is private and separate (a beautiful sunroom divides the space) from the main home. It’s situated on the northwest end of the property, with views of the infamous Stone Wall! You enter on the deck in front of the main home which faces out to the river. As you cross the beautifully crafted deck you’ll head towards the private stairway that leads you up to your space. Guest access You have complete access to the space which is NOT shared by the main cabin. Your space is a part of the entire building which is separated by a beautiful sunroom. It is completely private and sits up on a second level affording beautiful views of the river. Other things to note Most visitors to the area look forward to preparing their own meals and understand that some driving is required to dine out. However, the Picketwire Lodge/General Store, just one mile from our place on highway 12 serves up great BBQ and tasty ice cream! The Shopping Bag has a solid cafe and great pizza is served at the Middlefork Resort, ( easy walk across the river from us) All are subject to seasonal hours. Finally, no trip along Hwy 12 is complete without a visit to the Dog Bar, half an hour away in Cuchara. If you are looking for golf, your options are currently limited to the hidden jewel that is the Trinidad municipal 9-hole course. The Picketwire General Store and The Shopping Bag both sell required hunting, fishing licenses. Hours of operation may vary. Cell phone reception is limited.
