Amalfi is a lovely family home, built into the quiet mountainside above Fish Hoek's wonderful child friendly beach. It has spectacular views and a huge veranda for al fresco living. The garden is large and stepped. Perfect for family get togethers. Come and unwind and relax on our wonderful sheltered veranda whilst gazing out over the ocean and up at the mountains. Too good to be true...? Try us and see! The space Amalfi, is a large family home, it easily becomes your home from home and is not so precious as to be unwelcoming. The house is accesed from the road via 30 steps which wind upwards through the beautiful garden. You arrive on the huge veranda with its spectacular views over the bay. The house is arranged on two floors having a dining room, kitchen and our little all uses 'Moroccan' themed room ( also has a sleeper couch) as well as a downstairs toilet. These rooms all open onto the veranda. The entrance hall opens to a large curved open staircase with an enormous window behind onto the upstair's landing, from there you access the sitting room and three bedrooms (one en suite) All the front rooms including the sitting room lead out onto a long balcony, lovely to sit out there and watch the sunrise or set over the sea. Amalfi has been renovated recently and has been a much loved family home for over 40 years. It is one of the original houses on the mountainside and is reputed to have the best garden! Until last year my parents in law still lived in Fish Hoek village aged 92 and 94. They used to regularly drive up the hill to welcome our guests! Most comments in our visitor's book mentions the stunning views by day across the beach and far out to sea and far off mountains and at night the village twinkling below like a scene from a fairyland. They also talk about the peaceful feel of the house and the enjoyment they have experienced from sitting on the stoep with a glass of wine. (which incidentally is in just the right spot on the mountainside to be completely wind free.) And of course the sound of the sea is very calming to the soul. Guest access You will have access to dish washer, washing machine, fully equipped kitchen, garden furniture with outside eating areas. Picnic ware and beach equipment. Cd and Dvd players and an enormous DVD collection of box sets and films for all ages and tastes including lots for kids. Access to Satellite TV. Wi Fi is available, please ask our agent Melissa. In winter coal fires and radiators and in summer, the house with it's thick walls is always cool, we also have fans when necessary. Bedding and towels (not beach towels, these you should bring) Barbecue, pond cover to protect little people, garden furniture chairs and several tables. High chair, camp cot, washing line and drying racks, upstairs balcony with further sitting area, Binoculars, Off street parking; Security entrance gates; Burglar bars and Trelli doors.
