Traditional mountain apt- spectacular Eiger views
Description
Our apartment is in a traditional style Swiss chalet in a quiet neighbourhood. It has a separate bedroom with twin beds, bathroom with an enclosed power shower, toilet and wash basin, spacious lounge with armchairs and a settee, an integrated kitchen/dining area which is well equipped with electric oven and hob, fridge and cooking utensils. French windows give access onto a substantial balcony with table and chairs and a wonderful view of the Eiger North Face and other 13,000 ft high mountains. The space The view from our private balcony is unobstructed and absolutely amazing! The North Face of the Eiger is directly in front, with the Schreckhorn to the left, the Keine Scheidegg and Männlichen to the right. It's difficult to tear oneself away from sunrise to sunset. Possibilities from our apartment: The new Grindelwald Terminal is a short walk away, with the Eiger Express cable car taking you to the Eigergletscher in 15 minutes. From here you can go to the Jungfraujoch on the Jungfrau railway, and in summer walk down to Grindelwald following the Eiger Trail, or walk to Kleine Scheidegg, a 'Crash Landing On You' filming location. Also from the Grindelwald Terminal you can go to the top of the Männlichen in a gondola cable car and from there you can take a lift to Wengen (then to Murren etc), in summer you can walk to the Royal Summit, or to Kleine Scheidegg. The walking paths are excellent and abundant with clear signage clear. From the bus stop just below the flat (Säge Grund) taking the walking path to the side of Haus 5, or the bus stop above the flat next to Griwa Treuhand offices, you can use the Guest card for free buses around the village. The buses can take you into the village and from there to the Gletscherschlucht (the lower Grindelwald Glacier) where you can enjoy the Glacier Canyon Walk, there is a Canyon Swing and a spiderweb spanning across the walls. The bus can take you to the First gondola. At the top of the First in the summer there is the First Flyer, First Glider, Mountain Cart or Trottibike. Also fabulous walking paths taking you to places like the Bachalpsee, Schynige Platte or back down to Grindelwald The bus can take you to the Pfingstegg Cable Car. At the top of Pfingstegg in the summer you can go on the Rodelbahn, the Fly-line or walk up towards the glacier, down to Grindelwald or over to the Oberer Gletscher. Again, all paths are clearly marked and easy to follow. You can take a train down to Interlaken. Here there are lots of shops if you like shopping. In summer you can catch a beautiful boat to go across the lakes to Thun or Brienz, a wonderful experience. So many possibilities! A trip to the Tourist Information Office in the village will give you lots more information and advice. There is a Sport Centre there too with an indoor swimming pool, sauna, ice rink, indoor rope park and boulder area, gym. My favourite place to eat lunch is at the Hotel Wetterhorn, you can get there for free on the 121 bus. For coffee and cake, my preference is The Grindelwald Bakery on the Main Street going through the village. Guest access The whole apartment is accessible to guests (including a private balcony) as well as a shared ski storage room, shared table tennis room (bats and ball provided) and shared wash and drying room. Other things to note The apartment is not suitable for infants. There are stairs to gain access to the apartment within the chalet and the access path is steep as the chalets are built on a hill.
