La Maison Vigne Vierge Lagrasse

Pretty three bedroomed house in the beautiful medieval village of Lagrasse. The space Situated on the lovely Boulevard Charles Cros with views to the surrounding Corbière Hills, we offer open living downstairs space with log burner, separated from the kitchen by an open arch - Perfect for socialising and chatting whilst you cook! There is a separate dining area, with a table and six chairs with doors opening up for al fresco living. A further small patio table and two chairs can be used on the Boulevard outside to watch the world go by although we do stress that, as is common with French village houses there is no dedicated outside space or garden. Upstairs, there is a bathroom containing a bath, free-standing shower and WC. In the adjacent room, there is an additional WC and hand basin. Each of the three bedrooms are furnished with oak double beds and are pleasantly light and airy; the blue room has a Juliette balcony and opening French windows. Lagrasse is designated as one of the most beautiful villages in France. It sits nestled in the Corbierre Hills (foothills to the Pyrenees) at the confluence of two rivers. The village is predominantly medieval in style with the wonderful Abbey de Sainte Marie dating back to the days of Charlemagne. There are a myriad of cobbled streets to explore dotted with little shops where you will find modern day Artisans and Artists at work. Cross over the river Orbieu by one of two bridges, the earliest dating back to the sixteenth century and enjoy a cooling dip in the river. Once you have built up an appetite head for the promenade and chill at one of the restaurants or cafes under the cooling shade of Plane trees and enjoy the warm hospitality of the south. We are close to the Mediterranean (40 minutes by car) and enjoy a Mediterranean climate. Carcasonne is to the west and Narbonne with its cathedral and covered daily market to the east. There is no shortage of hill walks on our doorstep and the local gorges are within easy striking distance. Head south into the hills through vinyards and the scented pines and lavenders of the garrigue to the mystique of ancient Cathar castles. Stray a little further and you will find yourself in the Pyranees or even Aragon and Spain. Head north and discover the pretty villages of the Canal du Midi and the Black Mountains beyond. Guest access You will have sole access to the house and all amenities provided. Other things to note We have provided good quality linen and towels for all the rooms but we do ask please that these are not taken out of the house. There are a couple of additional towels provided that may be taken out if needed.
