Barngables Stone House, Connemara, Co. Galway

Barngables House is a beautiful and spacious stone house built in the traditional style standing in its own grounds located approximately a 25 minute drive from Galway City. Set in Connemara which is renowned as an area of desolate beauty, stunning scenery which is perfect for all manner of outdoor activities. Lough Corrib, which is one of the few limestone lakes where wild trout can be caught lies at the bottom of our lane. Oughterard is our bustling and picturesque local town. The space Ground floor The house was built to provide space for our large family. The ground floor comprises of a very large open plan lounge, dining area and kitchen. This space has two large wood burning stoves which create a lovely atmosphere. There are two large double bedrooms with king size beds and en suite bathrooms which are accessible from the open plan living space. The fact that there is no need to climb the stairs to access these bedrooms is an ideal feature for those who may find the stairs challenging. There is also more than enough space to set up a travel cot in either bedroom. The double doors open up to the large rear garden and patio which is west facing so catches the afternoon / evening sun. The seating area is covered by a pergola which offers shade when needed in summer months when the grapevine is in bloom. First floor There are further three large bedrooms on the first floor. One of these bedrooms can be dressed as a double or a triple which would comprise of one double and one single bed. The other two large bedrooms have a walk in wardrobe which provide plenty of storage. Again there is plenty of space in either of these bedrooms to set up a travel cot if needed. The bathroom on this floor is spacious with a bath, toilet and basin. The house is well equipped for family life with plenty of sports equipment, toys and children’s books. You are welcome to use both the rear and front walled gardens. The Tiny Cottage The Barngables Tiny Cottage is not included in the Barngables House booking but is included for information. If your party requires extra space we have a ‘tiny cottage’ next to the main house which is listed separately on Airbnb. You can see pictures if you follow us @barngablesconnemara Guest access You have access to the private parking, the entirety of the house and the rear garden. Please do not use the front garden opposite the kitchen. Please leave one space clear to the right of the tiny cottage for other guests and ensure entry and exit it possible at all times. The second front walled garden in the right as you enter the property is used for the tiny cottage next to house which is a separate listing. Other things to note Please note that we do not provide fuel for the wood burning stove. Wood or briquettes am be purchased locally. Coal should not be used as it damages the stove.
