After spending 45+ years with the US Coast Guard, we have finally decided to retire and build our forever home. We are excited to be able to share a part of our home with you. We try to personally greet each of our guests upon your arrival and do our best to ensure you have a wonderful stay. The space The Captain's Quarters is a studio apartment located above the garage. Our guest access the studio via the side entrance of the house and go up the stairs. You do not have access to the main house. Please note that our apartment is not childproofed and children are unable to be in or around the pool area due to insurance liabilities. Our apartment listing does not accept children. The kitchenette is equipped with a microwave, apartment sized fridge (stocked with water bottles, Keurig, (coffee pods/creamers/sugar), and tea kettle. Sit and enjoy your morning coffee at the dinette set. Plates, bowls, utensils, glasses, mugs, basic kitchen gadgets, mixing bowls, cutting boards, kitchen towels, hand/dish soap, etc. are furnished. **NO oven/stove or dishwasher is available** The bathroom has a full-sized tub/shower, toilet and vanity complete with towels, shampoos, conditioners, hair dryer and the like. The sleeping area includes a queen size bed, night tables, Luggage racks, a garment hanging area and small chest if you choose to unpack your luggage. Indulge in the soft comfy robes provided for your comfort. The living room area has two smaller sofas, electric fireplace and smart tv. A desk with dedicated laptop space is waiting for those who must spend a little time working. While we don’t have cable, we do provide Dish TV. We don’t have reliable internet service and we provide you with the WIFI network and password. A washer and dryer are available for your use should you need it. Just give us a heads up first. Don’t forget to bring your bathing suit so you can enjoy the pool on those warm (hot) summer days. Please note that the pool is a shared family space so we cannot guarantee you will have it to yourself. Forget your chargers or perhaps your adapter? Not a problem.. We can provide them for you. In the summer time, the pool is available for your use all day. The pool is usually reserved for family time after 6 pm but if we are out by the firepit, please feel free to join us. The spring pool opening for 2023 is scheduled for May 18th. Guest access The Captain’s Quarters is a studio apartment located above the garage and is decorated with a nautical feel. The side door is your way in and up the stairs. Parking is free and close to your entrance. Other things to note As featured in the Central Virginia Home Magazine, our home is nestled in a quiet rural setting not far from the Amherst Town traffic circle off of Route 60W. Come and enjoy the quiet peaceful setting that has become our new way of life. We will try to personally greet you upon your arrival and do our best to ensure you have a wonderful stay. We are located about 10 minutes from Sweet Briar College and 25 minutes from Liberty University. Take a day trip to Appomattox, Charlottesville or take a scenic drive along the Blue Ridge Parkway or check out the Route 151 “Brew Ridge Trail.
