Fall asleep in the fresh Maine air, listening to the sounds of the nearby harbor. Wake to birdsong and dancing leaves. Our 5m bell tent is appointed with cozy furnishings to wrap you in comfort after a day of exploration. Recline under the stars by the fire pit and view the magnificent milky way. Please note: we are not located in or near Bar Harbor. We are not oceanside. There is no electricity, heat or AC in the tent. No pets are allowed. We are happy to host families, including children. The space The bell tent sits beautifully on its platform to protect you from the ground. We are right in town, walking distance to shops and restaurants, with Acadia National Park, Schoodic Point Section entrance at the bottom of the hill from your camp. The Bold Coast Camp 5 meter tent is filled with comforts for your stay. Privacy fenced area with an outdoor shower and wash station, a Legacy Water Tower with fresh water for washing. Fresh drinking water from Berkey filter system. A big tenting perk: a private inside bathroom including a hot shower is available to enjoy after your hikes. The camp has a Solo Smokeless stove and a Bali propane fire with lounge chairs ready to recline and watch the stars. We have lots of kindling and small wood to start a bed of coals, if you want a long evening burn, wood is sold in front of Winter Harbor Provisions. Backman Wood (to the right of the driveway, two buildings down, outside stand with a cash bucket) has hard and soft bundles. There is a small Coleman stove with attached propane cylinder and a small kettle, coffee cups, and such to help start the day, but a stones throw away from evening's lodging is Chases Restaurant open for breakfast daily. There is a cooler, picnic basket, wine/water glasses, bread board, knife, cork screw, plates, napkins, some of the extra needs for picnic on the rocks by the shore. Inside the Bell tent, I have left a binder with lots of area information, maps of local treks, and the happenings around town, emergency contacts, library, bank, food stores, restaurants, festivals, potters, artists, farmers market, organic farms, and seasonal events. You'll find some games, playing cards and a few books. The linens and blankets are lovely, cozy, and clean. Guest access Bold Coast Camp is in Winter Harbor and a 5 minute drive to the entrance to one of the three most beautiful sections of Acadia National Park Schoodic Point Section and Loop of Acadia NP. Bar Harbor region of ANP is approximately 45 minutes from Winter Harbor but can vary during summer traffic on the Island. The Island Explorer is a great option to get around , both in Winter Harbor and Bar harbor. A free bus picks up nearby and carries you about town and into the national park (entrance is less than a mile away.). There is also the Winter Harbor/ Bar Harbor Passenger Service ferry a 5 minute walk from your tent that takes you across Frenchman's Bay to Bar Harbor in 45 minutes. (May need a reservation) It's a beautiful boat ride on a sunny day and you can often see porpoise and a variety of sea birds. The ferry generally runs into September. In Bar Harbor, you can hop on a free bus that will take you to Acadia and around town. Other things to note There is no electricity, heat or AC in the tent. On occasion, an unwanted guest in the form of an insect may join you inside the tent. Please enjoy your meals inside the tent, but keep uneaten foods put away. Please use trash barrels, locked coolers or your car overnight to prevent enticing curious creatures. While camping with us, finding common insects inside is not a reason for cancellation or refund.
