Since this is a unique and beloved house, not a standard hotel room, it's important for you to know about our House Rules. These House Rules ensure that everyone stays safe and happy throughout your visit. These things are REALLY important, so be sure to read them and follow them so that you have a pleasant stay.** * READ, FOLLOW, ASK: Our hosting process requires you to read and follow House Rules, Check-In Instructions, and Check-Out Instructions. You need to be willing and able to read and follow basic written instructions. You especially need to be able to follow these instructions to check yourself into the home and lock and unlock the door. That means you need to make the instructions available to yourself (in the Airbnb app, printed, or written out) at the time of check in. We understand language and technology barriers can be difficult, so if you have any questions at all, let us know in advance and we will happily clarify any instructions we send you. * KINDNESS: This is a home of peace, love, and respect. All races, creeds, colors, genders, political affiliations, and orientations are welcome. Treat me, and other guests with the consideration you would want to be treated with. * DOORS: Always keep your guest room door, backyard door, and front door closed completely unless you are entering or exiting it. * LOCKS: ALWAYS LOCK THE FRONT DOOR BEHIND YOU WHEN YOU ENTER OR EXIT THE HOME. We use a smart lock "august" for self check-in. You will be given instructions on how to open and close it. Only lock and unlock the keypad lock. Do NOT lock the bottom door handle. * NO SMOKING OR VAPING: No smoking or vaping allowed indoors . Feel free to smoke in the backyard or front yard. * NO FIRE: Absolutely no candles or any other open flames are allowed in the property. * QUIET HOURS: Quiet hours are 11 PM to 7 AM. You may use the common areas and talk or watch TV during quiet hours, but keep the volume reasonably low so that you don't disturb others. You may do laundry after quiet hours, but do so quietly. There is no curfew, and you may come and go whenever you like. No one expects you to tip-toe around during the day, even if someone is taking a nap :) * PARKING: If you drive a car you can park on the street or on the middle of the driveway (Do not block or park left side of the driveway as you face the house). Parking is first-come, first-served, so if there is not space in the driveway, park on the street. Do not block other vehicles. Remove all your valuables from the vehicle. This is a safe neighborhood, but you don't want to attract thieves. * VISITORS: No parties, no outside visitors without explicit host permission in writing over Airbnb messaging, and no overnight guests without previous approval when you book.  * KEYS: If you have a room key, return it before or at the time of checkout. You may leave it in the door knob or in the room. Unreturned and/or lost keys will be charged a $30 replacement fee. * TV: We provide smart TVs with Netflix already set up. Do not log out of the Netflix account and into yours. However, you are welcome to log into any other accounts of your own -- Amazon Prime, Hulu, etc. -- that you want for your own personal use during your stay. It is your responsibility to disconnect the accounts before check out. For your accounts' protection.  * SAFETY: First aid kits are available in the bathroom in the cabinet under the sink. Carbon monoxide and smoke detectors are throughout the home. Do not disable them. * FOOD: You are also welcome to store food in the refrigerator and pantry. Just make sure you label it . The only food and drink provided to guests for free (included in your booking) are: Coffee, Tea, Filter water Brita, Half & Half and milk. Everything else -- food, wine, snacks, soft drinks, water bottle -- is host property. * KITCHEN: You are welcome to use the kitchen, including oven and microwave, to prepare food for yourself. You may use all the kitchen utensils . We prefer the dishwasher over handwashing dishes. If the dishwasher is empty or has dirty dishes in it, you may put the dishes there. If the dishwasher is full or has clean items in it, put the dirty dishes in the sink. If you really want to hand wash your dishes, you may. . * BE SMART: Do not engage in illegal activities anywhere on the property. If you break or damage something, immediately let me know and arrange for its replacement or repair. Do not take any linens or other household items with you as souvenirs unless you are given written permission in an email. Any significant damage will result in the loss of security deposit. * COMMON AREAS: Clean up after yourself when you use the kitchen and other common spaces. Do not walk around in your underwear in common spaces. You may wear a robe or pajamas. Nudity is only appropriate in the privacy of your bedroom or the bathroom.  * BEDROOM: To keep insects from becoming attracted to your bedroom, no food is allowed in the room. Do not hang anything except curtains from any curtain rods anywhere in the home. Do not strip the bed: leave all pillow cases, pillow shams, duvet covers, and sheets on the bed. Removing them interferes with our careful screening, cleaning, and disinfecting system. * LIGHTS OFF: When you are not using your guest room, turn off all lights and unused electronics (like the television). Turn off all lights before leaving your room. * MAIL: Do not use our address for package delivery, personal correspondence, legal proceedings, or any other mail service without prior written approval from us. You are welcome to have food delivered here via food delivery services.  * EARLY CHECK-IN OR LATE CHECK-OUT: Early Check-In and Late Check-Out times usually can not be accommodated. However, when possible, we do allow them. If we agree to honor a request for Early Check-In or Late Check-Out, we will send you an alteration request through the Airbnb app with an additional fee. That additional fee will be approximately the average cost of another night's stay with us. The fee will be applied for each request you have made - once for Early Check-In, if applicable, and once for Late Check-Out. If you attempt to check out late or check in early without making prior arrangements with us, you agree to a charge that is twice the amount it would have been if you had arranged a late check-out or early check-in with us. * NO LUGGAGE STORAGE: We cannot provide luggage storage services outside the time of your check in and check out.  * PROFILE PICTURE: Upload a profile picture to your Airbnb account so we can identify you by sight. This is our only way of ensuring we let you in and not a stranger.  * ASK IF YOU HAVE A QUESTION OR ISSUE: We are always available through Airbnb messaging, so just ask if you need something or want to know something. We appreciate the opportunity to make things more comfortable for you. If you need something immediately, call or text us. We'll point you in the right direction. *We use white towels in the bathroom and white linen in the bedroom to ensure the materials can be sterilized and bleached, however they are susceptible to staining from makeup. It has become quite expensive having to replace the towels and linen when they are stained, so please try not to get makeup on the sheets and towels ( black makeup towels are provided ) * CHECKOUT: At checkout, you will be responsible for removing all of your belongings, any food (opened ). DO NOT STRIP THE BED, as that interferes with our careful screening, cleaning, and disinfecting system. You may leave your dirty towels on the floor of your private bathroom or in the silver hamper in the shared bathroom. Our cleaners will come to take care of everything else.
