Milos Maison - Windmill

Maison Milos is a family-owned historical monument windmill that has just been restored and renovated. Built on an elevated location with prominent views of Kos town, the coastline and nearby islands provides the ideal location for a relaxing holiday. A very unique house with invaluable history and magnificent views of the sunrise and sunset located in a peaceful area within a 15-min walk to Kos town centre and 5-min cycle to the nearest beaches. The space Maison Milos is one of the most important and original windmills that used to harness the power of the Aegean Sea winds to grind barley and wheat and provide flour, cracked wheat (trahana) and bulgur (pligouri) to the local farming communities of Kos and the nearby villages. Maison Milos was an operational windmill until the beginning of the last century and is still considered as one of the great monuments of Kos heritage and modern history. Maison Milos was originally converted into a house in 1981 and was completely refurbished in 2018 under the guidance and supervision of an internationally renowned local architect making sure that every original, historical feature was preserved. Interior Maison Milos is built on three levels. The main entrance, kitchen and bathroom/shower are located on the ground floor. Level 2 contains a double bedroom and Level 3 is the most scenic part of the property, where the living room is located and has 360-degree panoramic views of the town, the island coastline and mountain range. Exterior The windmill is surrounded by a private stone-built courtyard and luscious garden with local trees, flowers and seasonal vegetables – a common attraction for wild birds and butterflies.
