Description
For anyone searching for a true hinterland escape, The Cottage @ Windaboo is pure magic. Drive along a rambling road to the eucalyptus & agapanthus-lined entrance to a beautifully restored weatherboard cottage in a storybook setting. White paneling and a tin roof create a rustic and airy feel. Eclectic artwork and furnishings add intrigue and warmth. Settle in for drinks on the verandahs, explore Windaboos' glorious grounds, meet the menagerie (horses, goats, chooks, highlander bulls). The space Windaboo is situated 40 mins from Ballina Airport, 60 mins from The Gold Coast Airport, 20 mins from historic Bangalow and a 30 minute drive and guests can be at the beach or enjoying fine dining and a cocktail in Byron. The Cottage with bones and facade of a circa 1900 old-timer has been beautifully restored to accommodate the most discerning of guests but without taking away from the buildings old world charm. Situated around 100m from The Lodge @ Windaboo, the main residence where your hosts and middle-aged pups reside, The Cottage has views down through the palm grove, across the vegetable garden and also sneaky views towards where the equine kids of Windaboo graze. Modern inside with a mix of polished timber floors and polished concrete the open plan kitchen is fully equipped with new appliances and stone benchtops as well as a breakfast area. The kitchen flows to 2 separate verandahs as well as into the dining area which flows on to the living area. One of the verandahs accommodates outdoor dining and resembles a garden room. The other verandah is L-shaped and provides alternate access to both bedrooms. The main bedroom has a king sized bed that may, at prior request be set up as two long single beds. The second bedroom has a queen sized bed and rack storage for clothes. Both bedrooms have views across the lawn to the palm grove and are separated by an entrance hall giving privacy to both. Previous guests have raves about the level of comfort of the beds and the luxurious linen provided. There are also blanket/ luggage storage trunks and two bath robes per bedroom are provided for your use and comfort during your stay. Additional overnight accommodation in the form of a queen sized sofa bed is also available in the living room. Both bedrooms and living rooms are equipped with fans but given the lovely breezes that flow through the cottage, they are not often necessary. There is also heating available for the colder months. The bathroom is equipped with a separate shower and the bath is set into a bay window. We also proudly supply a bath pack from local supplier, In the Raw amongst other goodies. The cottage is eclectic and whimsical in its' styling with a mix of antique and bespoke pieces and artwork. It is a home away from home and even your hosts have holidayed there a few times for a change of pace and returned to "the real world" thoroughly rejuvenated. Wi-fi access (even in the gardens), Netflix, board games and lawn games, an array of cook books, books on interior design amongst others are also available for use on those rainy or beautiful Northern Rivers days. The cottage is relaxing, romantic and in essence a truly magical experience. Windaboo on the whole is ideal for pre-wedding, baby shower, elopement or honeymoon accommodation. The property is also available for photo shoots but not for parties or events without prior arrangements with your host. Guest access The crew at Windaboo totally respect the privacy of guests. One of the Windaboo crew will be available in person or via the phone for any questions. In general, the main sheds and the areas directly around The Lodge are out of bounds for guests without company of one of the crew. Only other areas out of bounds are in the paddocks with our beloved equine kids unless with one of our crew. Guests are welcome to join in at feed time.We are happy to provide carrots to give as snacks for the horses. Aside from that, please feel free to wander the home orchard, help yourself to the veg garden, The Old Dairy Bales and surrounding gardens....feel free even to take a walk or grab a lift one or both ways in The Mule (our off-road buggy). the journey is around 1.5km each way, passed remnant rainforest and towering red cedars to Windaboos' private swimming hole and surrounds. The hosts are happy to arrange in-house massages as well as in house hampers or catering but please give us at least 48 hours notice and on the latter so we can arrange. Guests can have as much privacy or interaction with the crew as they choose. Registration Details Exempt
