Glenburnie Cottage – Winery Escape in Tumbarumba

Description

It’s quiet, open and grounded. Light the fire, cook a proper meal, and settle in with a bottle of wine while the day winds out. In winter, the cold sets in and the fire does its job. In summer, it’s long evenings outside and clear skies overhead. You’re five minutes from town and close to the mountain bike trails, but once you’re here, it feels a long way from anywhere. This isn’t a polished wine country retreat. It’s a place to slow down, breathe it in, and spend time properly. The space The cottage is simple, comfortable and built for real use, not just weekends. There are three bedrooms, a full kitchen and a large fenced yard, making it well suited to families, couples or small groups. There’s space to spread out, and nothing is rushed. The indoor wood fire is the centre of the house in winter. Outside, the fire pit gets used most evenings, especially when the sky clears and the temperature drops. You’re staying on a working vineyard, so depending on the time of year you may see pruning, tractors moving through, or harvest underway. It’s not put on, it’s just what’s happening. If you’re interested, we offer private wine tastings. It’s a chance to sit down and taste through the wines while hearing what actually goes into growing the fruit and getting it through a season. The tasting room is not a short stroll from the cottage. For those here to ride, the cottage is set up for it with secure storage and space to get organised before heading out. Guest access Guests have full access to the cottage and yard. There’s a wood shed stocked for both the indoor fire and the outdoor pit. You’re welcome to use both. If you need a hand lighting a fire, splitting timber or getting things going, just ask. During summer, fire restrictions can apply. If you’re unsure, check in with us and we’ll let you know what’s allowed. The cottage is about five minutes from Tumbarumba by car, or a steady walk if you feel like stretching your legs. Town has everything you need, including a good butcher, bakery and supermarket. Other things to note This is a working vineyard, not a resort. There may be machinery operating during the day depending on the season. Winters are cold and mornings can be frosty. The wood fire keeps the place warm, but you’ll need to use it properly. We’re always happy to show you how. If you’re staying with us, we recommend taking the time to do a private tasting. It’s a more relaxed and personal way to experience the wines and ties in directly with where you’re staying. Registration Details PID-STRA-7783
