Somerview Cottage - Lake Somerset

All the conveniences of home in our little cottage! Our private home has 2 bedrooms + kids bunk room with expansive views over Somerset Lake and only a 2 mins drive to Kirkleigh boat ramps. This is a brilliant way to holiday with the whole family! 8 guests allowed but a maximum of 4 adults (one queen, one double and bunk beds for 4 kids under 12). Please note - no wifi - we come here as a family to disconnect. The space You’ll be sharing the property (but not the house!) with the non-human who lives on site. Our alpacas Coffee and Marble Cake, can be seen wandering the property. They are a bit shy so if you try to pet them, he’ll probably run away! We welcome your family to share in our “home away from home”. Please note, while bedding configuration will fit more, the house is small (with only 2 bedrooms) and not suited to more than 2 couples and children. We want you to be comfortable and so to avoid disappointment, 4 adults maximum and 8 people in total is a house rule we adhere to as there are only 2 bedrooms with doors and only 1 bathroom. Guest access No access to lock up garage, but we do have plenty of room for boat/jetski parking. There is a BBQ and 2 acres of land overlooking Lake Somerset. Large deck out front and a firepit to gather around at night. Other things to note **please note** we normally have chickens on the property however there was a situation with a fox and we no longer have them for the time being. We have a Nespresso compatible coffee pod machine and frother for you to use. There is a TV in the kids retreat. Kids retreat also has a PlayStation 3, with 1 remote and a lot of games (feel free to bring any extras). Telstra, Optus and Vodaphone network signals all work here but we have deliberately avoided wifi as we come up here to disconnect. We welcome your family to share in our “home away from home”. Please note, while bedding configuration will fit more, the house is small and not suited to more than 2 couples (and maximum 4 kids under 12). We want you to be comfortable and so to avoid disappointment, four people over age 12 maximum and 8 in total is a house rule we like to adhere to as there are only 2 bedrooms with doors and only 1 bathroom. Please note, listed price is for one family. Second family is charged $25pp/pn after four people. * Kids Retreat - The bunk room is for sleeping only. It is not a playground. Unfortunately, our experience has been that previous guests have not reinforced this with their children resulting in damage we’ve had to repair and dirty handprints and footprints to both walls and even the ceiling in the bunk room. Should there be marks or dirty handprints/footprints or scuffs on the walls or ceilings which require beyond normal cleaning in the bunk room, a $60/hr cleaning fee will be charged. We feel embarrassed to mention this, however because of the amount of times that it’s happened, I have been forced to add this to the house rules. Please note, all linen provided are on the shelves in the laundry room. Guests fit the sheets on the bed on arrival, and on departure remove the sheets and pillowcases and put in the laundry basket on top of the washing machine. As this is our private home, and not a hotel suite, the sheets and pillows are not as you would find in a hotel, but rather similar to the uncoordinated spares you might have in your own linen cupboards. We acknowledge that some guests may wish to bring their own towels and linen and we invite you to do so. Please also note that it does get cold in the Somerset region in the winter. While we do provide sheets, it is important that you bring enough warm bedding such as blankets, or doonas and duvets to keep you warm in the cooler months. If you stayed with us before we were happy to be one of the only guest homes in the Somerset region to allow your pets to holiday with you. Unfortunately we generally no longer allow dogs on the property since one of our cherished pets and beautiful hen was killed by a guest’s dog. If you would like to travel with your pet, please contact us beforehand and we will consider your request on a case by case basis.
