Located in ‘Downalong’, the heart of St Ives, is our lovely cottage Balgwidden. It's moments from multiple beaches and the town centre whilst enjoying fantastic sea & harbour views. This unique and family-friendly cottage is larger than is typical for St Ives and has three bedrooms, three bathrooms and everything you need for a wonderful stay. The space We recently completed a full renovation to create a well-equipped, comfortable family home-away-from-home. We swim, surf, fish, walk, kayak, look at art, eat and just generally chill whilst we are in St Ives. In addition to the sunny summer months, St Ives is popular year round for walkers, artists and families due to the moderate weather and wonderful natural and creative environment. There is the brilliant St Ives September Festival (a celebration of music and arts), the hugely popular St Ives Food and Drinks Festival and of course, the fun and slightly bonkers dress-up antics at New Years Eve. Father Christmas coming in on the local RNLI lifeboat is another highlight. The wonderful St Ives School of Painting runs year round art classes and the Tate and Barnoon Arts are great for half-term kids activities. The kitchen is open-plan and spacious by St Ives standards, including a large family eating area with banquette seating and an 8 seater table. A TV is mounted above the table and can be handy for the kids. Along with everything you would expect, there is also a large fridge/freezer, dishwasher, microwave and Nespresso machine. This is the room we use most as a family living space. Down one level from the kitchen, is a utility area and cosy bunk room. This floor includes an external door which goes out onto the back passageway and is a great way for coming in and out from the beach with all your stuff. You can come straight in the door into a wet room to wash-off. There is plenty of beach equipment and toys stored here for guest use. Up one level from the kitchen is the main sitting area. There is a lovely sea view from this room and the windows have been designed to fully open out and let the outside in. There is a glass safety barrier. This room is snug, but includes a large L shaped lounge part of which is positioned to enjoy a cup of coffee or glass of wine and admire the view. On this level is also the second bedroom which looks out onto the street below and includes a lovely built-in bunk with a double below and a single above. Next door is a walk-in shower and toilet. On the top floor is a lush and private master with a king bed from which you can enjoy beautiful sea views. The windows are the same as in the sitting room and next to them is a small seating area to appreciate the view or from which you can quietly ‘work from home’. There is a large ensuite with a bath, walk-in shower and plenty of space to put your things. There is a clear glass ‘window’ between the bedroom and ensuite so you can enjoy the views whilst brushing your teeth or lower the blind when you want privacy. There are plenty of books and board games about and all rooms have power sockets including USB outlets.
