A spacious 5 bedroom country house, located in the National Park, enjoying magnificent views and grounds, with a tennis court. The house is situated in a peaceful, rural location, within walking distance of the popular town of Chagford. The house is in an elevated position, with the Teign River flowing below it, and enjoys glorious views over the Teign Valley, Chagford and Dartmoor countryside. Frank Whittle, the inventor of the jet engine, lived at the property between 1962 and 1976. The space The house was built in 1865 and has been fully modernised. It is spacious, light and airy. The conservatory allows you to enjoy breakfast, lunch and dinner with unparalleled views of Dartmoor and Chagford. Throw open the conservatory doors on a sunny day and enjoy lunch on the terrace overlooking Dartmoor. Alternatively, cosy up on the sofa with a roaring fire and a glass of wine. There are two acres of grounds, incorporating a landscaped garden, an enclosed tennis court and a 10' spring free trampoline. Bring your walking boots and take to the moors for some of the best walking around. Alternatively, walk along the river and cool off with a spot of wild swimming. The beautiful beaches of South Devon and North Cornwall are just over an hour away, so make sure you bring your swimming costumes and beach towels. Guest access Guests will have access to the entire house except the larder, which is located at the rear of the house through the boot room/utility room. Guests are also able to access the gardens and the tennis court. There is an Annex and outbuildings located within the property, access to which is not permitted. Please note, the Annex is empty and no one will be staying there. Please note that there is a 5 night minimum stay. Other things to note Children should be supervised at all times.
