Our duplex is located in the heart of a farmhouse built in 1856 in the pretty town of Poisvilliers. The calm and authenticity of the countryside, 10 minutes from Chartres Cathedral and Maintenon Castle. We welcome you in a comfortably furnished space, in a rather modern style, with a harmonious blend of wood, metal and glass. Creations made by local artisans and artists. On sunny days, 2 terraces (courtyard side and water side) invite you to relax. The space We completed the renovation of our cottage during the Covid19 lockdown period between 2020 and 2021. We have arranged it to pleasantly accommodate our friends and families for a weekend or a week. This 47 m2 accommodation is great for a family vacation or a weekend with friends. A fully equipped kitchen area on the ground floor with a room that accommodates a washing machine and dryer. The metal and oak staircase leads to the living room, a master suite that includes the shower room and an alcove with a bunk bed. We chose to maintain a maximum height by creating a "cathedral" ceiling throughout the floor. The sofa is convertible to accommodate a mystery guest. The toilet is upstairs (more convenient and secure than on the ground floor for the night). You will have the choice between 2 terraces, the first on the courtyard side is SOUTH/EAST facing for a sunny breakfast, the other on stilts on the NORTH/WEST side for an aperitif with sunset on the water. The duplex is partly located above my hairdressing salon, another building houses my husband's plumbing company, our home is located in another building about forty meters away. We can make bicycles available for a ride, the Eure Valley is 5 km away. Guest access Access to the village is either by the RN154 (national road that goes from Chartres to Dreux) or by the D906 (departmental road that goes from Chartres to Maintenon). The entrance to the cottage is through the left gate, there are several spaces dedicated to parking in the yard, the gates are closed in the evening, so your vehicle is safe. You will of course have a remote control and access codes to the gate to come and go at your convenience. Chartres Cathedral and Maintenon Castle are a 10-minute drive away. Other things to note Since we are in the countryside and even though there has been no agricultural activity on this farm for nearly 30 years now, we have made the choice to bring back some of the animals we once found in these sets. So you will come across our 5 chickens who occupy their day picking worms, 2 small goats Olaf and Eclair hide a little further away but they watch them out. The meadow that adjoins the farm receives a few horses depending on the time of year (late spring and summer). Our dog Nouba does her yard dog job and warns of different comings and goings but she is just warning. It is likely that our cat (La Chatte) passes by you but it is certainly because it will be on the way to his next prey (always afraid of not having enough in his bowl). The water chickens heap with the frogs as a couple of ducks come to make a pilgrimage on the wild geese route. Depending on the seasons, it is possible to see 3 or 4 horses that graze in our meadow just next door. In short, if you are unfortunately allergic to a few of these animals, I can't guarantee you the assurance of having as good time as what I mentioned in the listing description.
