The space Kookaburra Creek is 10 kms north of Melrose, situated at the base of Mt Remarkable. Our privately owned/family run Retreat is set on 80 acres of picturesque bushland. How's that for a backyard! Abundant in wildlife, with endless natural beauty. Explore with the kids till your heart's content! There are easy, short walking trails on our property. The Melrose to Wilmington Rail Trail bike track passes the property, giving a pleasant easy ride into town. There are also a network of Walking and Bike Trails in the National Park, right next door! Our Retreat offers a variety of unique and creative accommodation options available for couples, families or groups. We can sleep up to 20 people, if all our accommodation is booked, more if sofa beds are used or you bring along your camper vans and tents! Accommodation ranges from this 2 Bedroom House, a Hut, Bedford Bus, 2 Storey Stone Workshop, a Loft and a fun little 2 Storey Stone Cubby House which is powered! The kids love it!! Guest access Guests can feel free to explore our 80acre property. There are a couple easy, short walks, ranging from 30-45mins return. There is direct access to the Willowie Forest next door. This is part of the Mt Remarkable Nat Pk. Hiking options and also 20kms worth of single track mountain bike trails. Guests can have an outdoor fire in the fire pit right next to the House. (To be used during non Fire-Ban season only. 15th April- 1st Nov) Please BYO campfire wood. (Weather permitting only.) We are members of The Wildlife Land Trust. Being part of this organisation means we are trying to conserve our bush property and by doing so, creating a safe habitat for the wildlife. We ask that you don’t collect fire wood from our property or neighbouring National Park. Chainsaws are prohibited. We supply fire wood for the inside fires. This wood is not to be used for campfires. Other things to note Rates are family friendly. Up to 4 children are free, under the age of 16yrs. (Add them as infants when checking price) As we totally rely on our own water catchment, and with the additional water carting during the current climate conditions, please let us know if you’re able to help us reduce our water use, by supplying your own linen and bedding. If supplying your own please provide sheets, quilt, pillows and towels. Linen and bedding can be supplied on request if unable to supply own. Full linen hire including sheet set, quilt plus cover, pillows plus covers and towels- Once off linen hire applies $30/person. The double beds have a single bed above them, and a sofa bed in the lounge room. So plenty of beds to choose from. (All beds are very comfortable:) Please note there is a TV which has DVD/Blu-ray and USB port for hard drives, but no TV channels. The Retreat is accessible to most types of 2WD vehicles if driven with care. The road is un-sealed, a little rough and stony in places. Please drive at 15kms or less along the road, as there are many kangaroos and euros along the way.
