Description
This comfortable south facing Grade 2 * listed country house nestles at the foot of the Mendip Hills and within a few minutes walk of he Medieval Square. This rambling 7 bedroom house, has many features of a bygone age including flag stone floors, mullioned windows and authentic fire places and cornices. The five rooms on the first floor have en suite facilities and the self contained two rooms on the upper floor have a shared bathroom and is ideal for families. The space The house contains a ground floor with 3 entrances and comprises a large well stocked country style kitchen with scullery, a formal dining room, a sunny sitting room. a morning room for breakfast and a garden room which has a TV. There are also 2 downstairs cloakrooms and a laundry room. The bedrooms are individually styled using family furniture . Five rooms are on the first floor and two rooms are on the upper floor. The floors are quite uneven in part as they are a combination of flagstones and wood and there are many steps and stairs. There are two car parks attached to Compton House. Guest access The historic Axbridge Square is within a few minutes walk and there you will find a pub,a cafe, a Coop supermarket, a chemist and post office. There are 2 free car parks near the Square. Compton House is 2 miles from Cheddar Gorge and is situated on the Strawberry Line which is famous for walking and cycle rides. Bicycles can be hired locally and there are bus stops near the house for travel to Wells and Weston Super-Mare. Compton House has 2 small car parks which are free to use. You can access the house at anytime using a key pad code and each guest is given a room key on arrival. Other things to note There is a south facing terrace with BBQ overlooking the lawn. Because of the age of the property and the amount of steps and uneven floors this property may be challenging for guests with walking difficulties.
