Built in the 1860s by Englishwoman Antoinette Pignon Powle, the cottage is one of Bruny Island’s oldest homes. Originally called Oakchester, locals know it as Mr. Wisby’s Cottage. Antoinette left for the Holy Land and never returned, leaving her neighbor to care for it. Restored inside and out, the cottage has two bedrooms (one upstairs, one downstairs), dining/kitchen, living room, outdoor entertaining space, and bathroom/laundry with walk-in shower and claw-foot bath. Minimum two nights stay. The space This is a quiet, cosy and beautiful clean English style character cottage located in a secluded paddock. If you are looking for a great place to stay for a few quiet relaxing days in a great part of Tasmania then this is the place. It is just perfect for a country getaway for two. Guest access The cottage has all the facilities of a city house but in the country. Quality European kitchen appliances, gas hot water, electric heating and underground power are modern facilities that go hand in hand with the ambiance provided by period oak furniture imported from the United Kingdom. Other things to note Please note that most of the roads on North Bruny are unsealed and so the road to the cottage is so best taken by daylight. Registration Details DA2019624
