The space The Enchantment of Lisbon is a cozy and charismatic refurbished apartment located next to the Old Town district of Alfama, one of the most typical, popular, traditional and historic neighbourhoods of Lisbon. The central location provides easy access to the main interest areas of Lisbon. As a matter of fact, the apartment is situated just round the corner from the Military Museum and the Santa Apolonia Metro & Train station. In the Santa Apolonia station there is a "Pingo Doce" supermarket and just opposite the station there is chemist's (pharmacy). On the opposite side of the main road, next to the river, there is a large open-air carpark which charges just 8 euros per day. This area of central Lisbon has plenty of cafeterias, bars, traditional Fado restaurants, as well as the small village-type shops typical of Alfama.The area is also very convenient for sight-seeing: you can easily walk to the central Praça do Comercio square in about 15 minutes, and the wonderful "miradouros" (viewpoints) of Alfama, like the Portas do Sol, and Miradouro Santa Luzia are just a 10 minute walk away. The majestic Panteão Nacional (National Pantheon) - where the famous Fado singer Amalia Rodrigues is buried along with the local flea market "Feira da Ladra" held on Tuesdays & Saturdays is just round the corner. Verily, Alfama, together with the Bairro Alto, are the "bairros" or neighbourhoods par excellence for listening to fado. Alfama is the oldest district of Lisbon, having survived the terrible 1755 earthquake, and its streets and inhabitants have been the subject of many Fado songs down the times. Today this famous "bairro" includes many excellent Fado restaurants, and some of the best are of the "Fado vadio" variety, where non-professional singers get up to put their hearts and souls on show for all to see. Concerning to the characteristics of the apartment, it features two bedrooms with wardrobes, one comprising a double bed and the other with two single beds. There is one living room with a sofa bed, a fully equipped kitchen with oven and stove, microwave, laundry machine, fridge and freezer, coffee machine, toaster, iron and ironing board, a bathroom with shower and hairdryer and a little courtyard where you can take advantage of the sun. There is also satellite TV and Wi-Fi free of charge as well as basic utensils namely a heater, a fan or a hoover. Indeed, the apartment is quite comfortable, quiet, delightful and tastefully decorated.
