Description
East Shallowford Farm is a traditional working hill farm, nestled in the wide West Webburn valley with sheep, cows, pigs, ducks and chickens. As part of your stay you are welcome to join in the daily farm tasks, feeding the pigs and poultry at 8.00am. A spacious, yet beautifully warm new barn conversion completed in June 2021, accommodating up to 21 people. Retaining unique Dartmoor granite features, light, cheerful and with stunning views of Corndon Tor. The space The newly converted Barn, when combined with the Farm House, form part of a Grade II listed curtilage. Both buildings are available to visitors. All visitors can enjoy the comfort of their own space, but just be aware that some outdoor spaces may be shared - especially for those wonderful summer evening BBQs, which can of course be lifted up and moved! History will form the walls of your dreams whilst Dartmoor is on your doorstep. Guest access If booking ten people or more, we will give you exclusive use of the Barn. We live at the farm in one end of the house (a different building to the Barn). Being a busy working farm there is often the noise of animals, children and machinery in an otherwise perfectly serene Dartmoor atmosphere. On the ground floor, there is a large dining room (we call it the Orange Room), a lift for disability access only, a large kitchen space, a lounge with original cobbled floor covered with carpet, and a downstairs toilet. There are five bedrooms on the first floor, sleeping, 3, 4, 6, 6 and 2 persons, totalling 21. Each room has en suite shower and toilet. All the beds are modern wooden bunk beds, except for 3 single beds. The room of 2 beds has a walk-in wet room shower. Other things to note As there are two buildings listed separately with AirBnB and only one car parking area, we ask you kindly to park with respect for the farm team and any other visitors. We request you to park in the official car park and not in the farm yard (through the second gate). Unfortunately we no longer have an array of wine glasses as so many were broken. Feel happy however, to bring your own. We do have ordinary glass tumblers. We also ask visitors to bring towels if possible, as we struggle to dry them in limited space. Being Dartmoor, the rain loves to surprise us, so bed-linen (which we provide) gains the priority for drying space over towels.
