Allports Beach House on Flinders Island combines the qualities of a classic Australian beach house with a spacious Mediterranean villa. The north-facing property is just a three-minute walk along a native bush track to the sparkling turquoise water of Allports and Emita Beaches, and a short drive to Boat Harbour, Lillies Beach and Sawyers Bay. The sweeping views across Bass Strait are simply out-of-this-world, and along with its private location, make this holiday house a one-of-a-kind. The space This stylishly designed private property is surrounded by bushland on a large block - a mere 10 minutes to the Flinders Island airport and 15 minutes from the small, but vibrant, town of Whitemark. The spacious, open plan living area has timber floors, high ceilings and is flooded with natural light. Sliding doors lead onto a wooden wrap-around deck, offering expansive views across Bass Strait to Castle Rock and Marshall Bay. The designer kitchen provides a full range of modern cooking facilities including a coffee machine. There are gorgeous navy velvet sofas, comfy reading chairs, a large dining table and a wood-burning heater – all of which help to create an idyllic island escape. There are two generous queen-sized bedrooms (one with en-suite) that both have private access to a balcony and waterfront views. There is a third with a single and double bed. They all come with luxury, designer 100 per cent cotton bed linen, electric blankets and hotel quality mattresses and doonas. A large family bathroom is off the living area with a shower and in-built laundry. There are Sheridan towels, body wash, shampoo and conditioner, as well as a hairdryer. The smell of freshly cooked bread will welcome you on arrival. You will also find the owner’s free-range eggs in the fridge together with breakfast supplies for the first morning including muesli, milk, tea, coffee and condiments. There is also a BBQ, outdoor dining table and picnic equipment. Fresh flowers straight from the garden and magazines have been thoughtfully placed throughout the house. If you love beach and coastal walks this is the perfect place to stay because it’s all right at your doorstep. Guest access Guests have total access to the entire home and outdoor area. The property is located on a large, private block only minutes from the nearest beach. Other things to note There are no neighbours in front or to the sides of the house - albeit the local museum is next door but only opens a few days a week and is well-worth a visit. It’s run by local volunteers and provides an intriguing insight into Flinders Island and the Furneaux Group. Cafe North operates at the museum on weekends and the talented local chef produces mouth-watering meals. Wybalenna Chapel is one of the most historic Indigenous sites in Australia and is just 10 minutes down the road so put this on your travel itinerary. The nearest town is Whitemark, a 15 minute drive from the beach house where you can do your grocery shopping, grab a coffee or have a bite to eat.
