Periton Lodge is a Classic 1950's Aussie beach house built by renowned local builder Mick Harrington & lovingly updated to appeal to present day tastes & cater for modern day needs Offering 3 bedrooms & superbly positioned overlooking the beach, creek, ocean & famous Great Ocean Road. The expansive deck is ideal for relaxing with Nardi lounge chairs, outdoor dining and plenty of space to sunbake. Recently refreshed including a new kitchen, bed, couch & all new appliances, your next beach retreat awaits…… Situated a short 5 minute stroll from the beach & Otway National Park, your getaway beckons. A true “holiday house” where you instantly feel welcome & relaxed. Whether you curl up in the hammock or sit sipping a cold beverage watching the waves roll in, one thing is for sure, you’re in no hurry to leave. The open plan living area has views throughout. Relax in front of the wood fire in the cosy carpeted lounge or cool down under the new Daikin split system. Whip up dinner in our fully equipped kitchen while watching the waves roll in. Connect to WiFi internet for work or to catch up with friends, or your latest TV series on our smart TV. Wellness is the key, switch off, roll out the yoga mat and embrace the sunrise on the deck with yoga asanas or pilates stretches. We provide a mat, 2 blocks, belt, 1kg hand weight, spiky balls & roller to help you keep your body supple. As an established house access is easy and we are on a made road with simple driveway access unlike many houses in steep Wye River. Cheaper than a 3 bedroom cabin in the local caravan park & Only 15mins to Lorne and 30mins from Apollo Bay we are perfectly positioned to avoid the crowds but still close to all facilities these towns offer. This is "your" beach escape, time to relax and unwind, sip a drink in the sun on the balcony taking in spectacular ocean views whilst shrouded by established privacy trees that attract a wonderful array of local native birds and the occasional koala. When its time to retire for the night the main bedroom is directly off the lounge with a Queen size bed & a single bunk bed for young children. Downstairs are 2 additional bedrooms, fully renovated in 2026, both have ocean views and suitable for adults and older children: On the east side, the Yellow Bedroom has a Queen size bed, rocking chair and a desk. Being downstairs ensures quiet & privacy away from the living space for you to nap, study or work remotely. The Green Room has a garden aspect, a Double bed and a Single bed, for friends, a couple or as a great older kids retreat with a TV, DVD player, Chromecast & retro arcade games. Our base price includes 4 guests over 2 bedrooms. If you would like the third bedroom you will need to book for 5 or 6 guests. In true 1950's style, these rooms are interlinked, have external access and are lockable. All beds have electric blankets and each bedroom has a fan, heater & dehumidifier to ensure premium personalised comfort. Team this with comfortable & supportive beds, crisp cotton sheets and the sound of crashing waves and you're assured a great nights sleep. The house is perfectly elevated to have spectacular views but also be a gentle 5 minute walk to the surf beach at the end of the street. Superbly set on Gadubanud "KingParrot" country between the Otway Ranges rain forest (think many beautiful waterfall walks) and the Great Ocean Road (perfect for whale watching), we are spoiled for choice to explore our natural environment. We recommend the picturesque 1km walk on "Paddy's Path" which will take you from the house to the Wye River Cafe for your morning espresso and patisserie of choice This path runs parallel to, and above the Great Ocean Road to the shop/cafe/general store "Wye General" & pub "Wye Beach Hotel". From here you can also choose to walk the beach to Wye Point or take the lush ferny river walk inland up along the Wye River. At the bottom our the street is Olive Street which leads to the entrance to the Separation Creek to Jamieson Creek walking track (5.3km), a Parks Victoria bush walk above the Great Ocean Road opened in Jan 2020 and from Morely Ave, Wye River you can take the new 4.6km coastal track to Kennett River. There are plenty of activities, breweries, distilleries and eateries to try in the area, check our compendium for more information or just kick back in the hammock & relax Guest access With a key safe on the premises, access is easy. We've installed solar lighting to welcome late arrival guests & illuminate the path for you. We know what its like to want to escape the city after work and wake up to an amazing ocean view! We want you to REALLY relax, so we've made our check-in & out times flexible when we don't have same day arrivals. In busy times our check-in time is 3pm and check-out is 10am. If the house is booked before or after you, these times are strict to allow for thorough cleaning. You will have this very private beach house to yourself. Other things to note Due to the layout of our property, we suggest that the lower bedrooms (Green & Yellow) are not suitable for children under approx. 12 yrs. Bookings over the busy summer period are 1 week minimum For the sake of the local koalas and other wildlife, as well as everybody's comfort & relaxation we have a NO PET policy. This is strict, we make no exceptions.
