Kanyini - A unique place between land and sea

Just a short turn off from the Great Eastern Drive, with easy access to Maria Island and Freycinet National Park, Kanyini is set on a unique landscape with sweeping country views on Butlers Ridge Nature reserve and only a 10 minutes drive to one of the most beautiful (secret) beaches in Tasmania. Our home has been described as a striking piece of sculpture amongst a beautiful landscape. We are a French Australian couple and happy to help our guest in any of those languages :) The space We called our home Kanyini which is an aboriginal name that signifies connectedness, care and responsibility. The home was finished in October 2019 and we opened to Airbnb in January 2020. Our intention was to create a unique architectural piece in harmony with the natural environment where friends, family and guests would feel welcome. We are proud to be able to make this special part of the world accessible to others and share our passion for the region. This is our first listing as hosts but as long-term Airbnb customers, we have tried to offer all the things that are important for us when we travel to create the sense of a home away from home. Everything in the home is new and chosen with love and care to provide maximum comfort. One of the things we gave special attention to are the beds. To allow maximum versatility, each bedroom has 2 single beds that are linked together into a king size bed. A super comfy mattress topper links the 2 singles to ensure unity and bring extra comfort with very little partner disturbance. The feedback we got so far has been fantastic. Add the peace and quiet of the surroundings, even the most recalcitrant sleepers have reported having the best night sleep in a long time! Hope you come and test it for yourselves. You will enjoy uninterrupted views of a mountain range, stunning sunsets and plenty of wild life in the way of wallabies, wombats, possums and numerous birds including the black cockatoos if you are lucky. Whilst feeling removed from the rest of the world, you will only be a short drive from 3 local towns, stunning beaches and all the natural beauty this part of the East Coast has to offer including the unmissable Maria Island. Guest access You will have access to the whole west side of the house, which is a fully self-contained 2 bedroom guesthouse with its own private entrance and deck. See more about us in the section "guest interaction". Other things to note The house is set on 40 acres of land and we will be more than happy to let you explore as much as you would like. Please talk to us directly before doing so. I am a qualified yoga teacher - a private yoga session can be arranged on request for a fee. Practice yoga with a beautiful view! If you own a drone, we are happy for you to bring it and play. If you are interested in modern architecture and design, Kanyini is for you. Our house has been built with Corten steel or weathering steel. When exposed to atmospheric conditions, Weathering Steel undergoes an oxidisation process, where protective layers develop on the material’s surface. These layers contribute to performance and create the metal’s rust coloured architectural aesthetic. When first installed Weathering Steel is grey in colour. Once exposed to atmospheric conditions, the oxidisation process begins. It can take several months for the material to fully transform, morphing from grey into bright orange, and eventually settling into a deep golden brown. Because different part of our house have been exposed to different weather conditions, the colours vary and add to the striking sculptural effect.
