Characterful Victorian Rural House.
Characterful Victorian Rural House.
Description
My house sits on a large plot with no near neighbours, in an area of outstanding natural beauty with uninterrupted views across fields. It's very quiet except for birds and the occasional fox barking in the distance. I am situated halfway between Stonehenge and Avebury with other prehistoric sites practically on the doorstep. There are plenty of great footpaths and cycling routes and the Kennet and Avon Canal is nearby. There are two resident dogs, a collie-sized cross breed and a collie. The space Guests have the top floor of the house (a private suite of rooms) to themselves with their own staircase leading to the bedroom (with balcony), shower room and sitting room. The spaces are filled with artwork and artifacts from foreign travels. A second bedroom is available on request for those travelling with friends or family (the bathroom would be shared). Guests are welcome to sit and relax in my garden. I work from home as a bookbinder so always available for help or advice. Guest access There is a very good local pub with food, not always open on Sunday and Monday evenings. Pewsey has a supermarket with many more choices in nearby Devizes and Marlborough. There is a terrific nearby canal-side cafe open everyday in the village of Honeystreet. There are many local footpaths and stunning walks along the top of the downs. A car is highly recommended to reach me and to be able to and visit the local attractions. Cyclists are welcome and I have safe areas to store them overnight. I so not offer self catering but guests are welcome to store food in the fridge and use my microwave. My kitchen is private so I ask that any food prep is completed by 8 pm. During your stay Guests have a very private area for their own use. I am happy to help with advice and recommendations for things to see and do. I am guided by how much guests wish to interact. Other things to note I provide a help-yourself breakfast - tea, coffee, juice, muesli, jam, honey, fruit and toast. Everything that will set you up for the day. This is a vegetarian household but not vegan so please bring your own plant based items or gluten free bread.
