Description
Rosemary Cottage is a 200 year old fisherman's cottage, with authentic features, such as low ceilngs, exposed beams and thick cob walls, but with with modern facilities to make your stay comfortable and cosy. Convenient to both town and harbour it is within a few minutes easy walking distance of local amenities and transport links to be able to explore Brixham, Torbay and the English Riviera. The space Rosemary Cottage is a 2 bedroom/4 person plus cot, 18th century fisherman's cottage, with low ceilings and exposed beams, nestling in a quiet road within 3 minutes of the vibrant Harbour Bowl and 5 minutes of the Town Centre where there is plenty to do and visit. A relaxing place to wind down after a busy day, our family feel cottage hints at its nautical past. To be clear, there's no parking outside the property, but on-street parking within 5-10 minutes walk. From the pastel washed front of the cottage set back from the road, you enter straight into the living room with its low ceiling and wooden beams, it has a soft airy feel, with comfy sofa and relaxing tub chairs. We provide all bed linen and bathroom towels. And if you stay 2 weeks or more we change the linen mid-way for free. There's a flat screen TV, DVD and CD player, window seat looking out onto the quiet road, quaint fireplace with log burner effect electric heater and wall lights to create a great space for relaxation. A folding table and chairs can be pulled out for informal dining. Through the door to the modern-equipped kitchen which has a full sized oven and hob, fridge and small freezer compartment, washing machine, microwave, stainless steel basin and draining board, and the usual equipment for four people. From here a wooden "stable door" opens out onto the patio and shared courtyard which is a real suntrap, where you can sit at the cafe style table to eat and drink alfresco admiring our lovely Rosemary bush. Back into the front room you ascend the spiral stairs to the first floor and the well proportioned main double bedroom with its West Country seaside ambiance. The double bed has a comfortable mattress, and the room features the usual bedroom facilities and cupboards for clothes. The hairdryer is in the drawer. There is a window seat for "people watching" in the street below. Across the landing is a modern shower room with a larger than average shower area, basin, mirror and large window creating a bright and airy space to wash in. Ascending the spiral staircase once more takes you to the second floor with its twin bedroom. From the window seat there are great views out over the main harbour and its breakwater, and towards the Bay and Torquay. We have a range of books, games, puzzles and DVDs, and guides to local things to do, maps and pamphlets to keep everyone entertained for those "stay at home" evenings. There is an airer inside and clothes drying lines in the enclosed shared courtyard to the rear of the property, for drying clothes and those towels and swimsuits after a day at the beach! Guest access You'll have access to the whole Cottage, patio and courtyard shared with the adjoining cottages (please respect our neighbours's privacy). During the warmer months there are chairs and a small cafe-style table immediately outside the kitchen for al fresco dining. If you need flexibility for check-in/out time, just ask us. Other things to note Rosemary Cottage is old, the ceilings are low and the stairs are a bit steep which all add to its charm and authenticity. Whilst it is family friendly, parents are advised to ensure that children are properly supervised. We also operate an "animal free" environment, due to some of our family and friends being allergic to animal fur and their dander. Please therefore do NOT bring animals with you. If you do we'll have to charge an immense amount of money to have the whole Cottage cleaned to be free of traces of your animals! Parking is free on the surrounding roads, but you may have to "shop around". We normally stop off a little way along the road and unload before parking up Heath Road or Heath Park. There is more parking back into the Town and Breakwater area in large public car parks. We do not have carbon-monoxide detectors as we are electric only and do not have any gas on site so they are not required (you can't measure what is not there!)
