Machermore Castle South Lodge

South Lodge is situated on the Machermore Castle private estate. Guests will be surrounded in tranquillity by mature woodland and large lawns. The lodge benefits from a large rear lawn and access to free fishing off the banks of the river Cree. The lodge has a fully fitted kitchen and furnishings making it a perfect peaceful getaway or holiday rental. Local highlights include fantastic cycling trails and hiking routes, out door pursuits, hunting, wildlife experiences and local historical sites. The space Large roomy bedrooms with king size beds. Good sized kitchen and dining area. The lodge sits on the bank of the river Cree. Plenty of great views and lovely walks around the Machermore Castle estate and the local area. Guest access All the castle estate grounds are available to explore. The castle is open on a seasonal basis. When open, guests can feel free to use the lounges, bar and ball room areas of the castle. Guests also have free use of the extensive fishing rights which run along eastern side of the river. Other things to note There is private and secure parking on the estate next to the lodge. Access to the castle and associated rooms is at the owners discretion. Sometimes it may not be available during your stay. Please message in advance for availability if you require this as part of your stay. This is a country side property about a 5-10 minute drive (20 min walk) from the town of Newton Stewart. It is an active sporting estate next to farms. Please be mindful that the location is rural and in the country side. There may be the occasional tractor on the road or cows and sheep in the fields. If the owners are around they may be shooting clay pigeons at the range on the estate. If you leave your windows open late at night with the lights on please expect insects to fly in (just like everywhere else in the country side). Although this is a self check-in there are some staff around, please do be courteous to them. As this property is also a private residence, please do respect all 'No entry' signs.
