Idyllic highland croft by Strathcarron and NC500
Description
The Old Croft House is about a mile outside Strathcarron and is surrounded by magnificent highland scenery. It is a charming, cosy and well appointed two bedroom cottage. It is ideally located to explore the area with Skye, Applecross, Eilean Donan Castle, Attadale Gardens and the North Coast 500 are within easy driving distance. The space The cottage is a traditional croft house, converted for modern use. It is most suitable for groups of up to four, either a family or two couples. Access to the bedrooms is by steep and narrow stairs which may not suit some guests. Guest access The whole house is available Other things to note Arineckaig is an active crofting community which is very welcoming and friendly. Please respect the privacy of those who live and work on the estate. In particular, we would be grateful if you could respect the signs indicating no access on the road behind the cottages. Since starting the letting of these cottages a little while ago, a stag known as Thumper has become something of an attraction. Notwithstanding his film star good looks, calm appearance and penchant for sleeping in poly-tunnels, please remember he is a large and potentially dangerous wild animal. It is NOT safe to approach him; his antics should only be enjoyed from a distance, preferably from inside the house. This is particularly the case during the Rut (~October) when he may be quite excitable. On a more general note, please respect the environment and wildlife. Please leave gates as you find them: close those that were closed, leave them open if they were open. Please do not cause any unnecessary disturbance to livestock. Dogs should be under complete control when near sheep; it is worth bearing in mind that livestock represents someone's livelihood. Dogs are very welcome, however please pick up and dispose of any poo in the garden as a courtesy to other guests and also Davy who mows the lawn.
