Twin or Double room in Victorian Seaside Cottage
Twin or Double room in Victorian Seaside Cottage
Description
Clematis Cottage B&B sits in the sleepy village of Downderry on the South Cornwall coast. Directly on the SW Coast Path, the cosy cottage offers broad sea views and period features. There are two available rooms to choose from, a Twin with amazing sea views, or a cosy Double, both beside the guest bathroom. * Only one booking taken at any time * Listed price is for max 2 guests sharing one room * Simple continental breakfast is included * Resident cat, so no dogs * Children over 7 only The space Clematis Cottage offers warm and friendly hosted Bed and Breakfast in a quiet and typically Cornish village. Your hosts (me and Alfie the cat) live on site, but guest rooms are together on the first floor - and we’re up in the attic. The ‘Instant Book' price is for just one room - so a maximum of 2 guests sharing. Groups of two or less can choose between either the double or twin room according to preference. The double room is cosier and nearest to the guest bathroom, it faces the church wall and garden with sea views over to the far left. Whereas the twin room is larger and faces due South, so has lovely expansive sea views straight out the window - and from bed! Both rooms are the same price. But room price is variable (based on day/month) - as shown on Airbnb 'instant book'. **If guests require both rooms (for groups of 3/4) this may be on occasion be possible, but will require an additional room fee and must be agreed with the host in advance of making a booking.** The two guest rooms are beside each other on the first floor of the cottage and share a private guest bathroom on the same floor. You can expect crisp clean cotton sheets and a tea tray in your room, with fresh milk available. Only one booking (one group travelling together) will be permitted to stay at any one time. So under no circumstances will guests ever be required to share the bathroom with anyone outside of their group. Instant booking is available for up to 10 nights stay for one room (no more than 2 guests). Longer stays and groups of 3 or 4, please contact host to discuss this prior to booking. A continental breakfast with fruit, freshly baked croissants, toast (with various jams and Cornish butter), a choice of cereals and a fresh pot of coffee or tea are available to guests in the dining room every morning - this is included in the room fee. There are also Tea and Coffee making facilities in the rooms. The dining room is dedicated to guest use. The table is set with dishes/cutlery etc. and in addition to breakfast, guests are welcome to use the room to eat takeaway if they wish. Host will of course do any required washing up! :) Guest are welcome to relax in the living room at any time, which has a tv with Prime/Netflix etc. and (in the cold winter months) a lovely wood-burner. The living room is dedicated to guest use every day after 7pm - so other than a possible visit from the cat, you’ll have the room to yourself and full control of the tv! Leading from the living room is a south facing / sea facing covered terrace lined with plants and flowers. There’s a small table and chairs and the polarised roof and wooden sides offer protection from extreme heat and moderate wind/rain. While the open front offers wide sea views and plenty of sunshine! The private guest bathroom has a large roll-top bath with shower attachment, but doesn’t have a separate shower. **The kitchen is not available for guest use* Guest access COTTAGE ACCESS: Clematis Cottage is about 2/3 minutes walk from the beach and only around 4 minutes walk (on the flat) from the local pub, restaurant and village shop. There are no immediately local taxi companies, but there are several companies in Looe which will service the village here if booked in advance. To access the cottage there is a short run of steps leading up from the street. They aren't steep and there aren't many of them, but they are quite narrow so wheelchair access, or access for those requiring mobility aids such as walking frames would most likely be problematic. PARKING: Unfortunately there's no parking at the cottage itself. So it's either on the street (if you can find somewhere appropriate that won't upset the local residents!), or there's a little car park about 3/4 mins walk down the road opposite 'Bewshea’s’' restaurant (it's called 'Broads Yard, Downderry' on the Cornwall Council car park site and the prices are reasonable). During your stay Host also lives in the property but sleeps on a different floor to guests - interaction is usually mainly on arrival (to show you around and give you a key) and during breakfast. But of course I’m also always available when needed and happy to provide any local knowledge I can! :) Other things to note Smoking is permitted outside on the covered terrace (with the French doors closed please) but not inside the cottage itself. The south facing terrace does provide pretty good shelter from the weather, unless it’s stormy sideways-rain or directly on-shore!
