Retreat to a historic sicilian farmhouse, charmingly decorated and with marvellous views. Escape the coast, head for the hills, keep an eye out for the Greek temple of Segesta. Then you reach a pot-holed road that buckles through vineyards, citrus groves and rough fields where sheep graze with their ringing bells; this is an ancient landscape. The sprawling stone farmhouse, its land and its rose-strewn garden have been in the family for generations. The space San Giovanni Vecchio has been in the family for generations and recently lovingly restored stone by stone. The property comprises of the main Farmhouse and and a separate annex, The Pool House. The farmhouse is built over a bed of gypsum rock and is arranged over two floors each one independent of the other, each with its own entrance, living, cooking and sleeping spaces. The ground floor is the largest. It has 3 double bedroom (2 of which are en-suite), 3 bathrooms, living and dining room with fireplace, kitchen, tv room and a library. The first floor is accessible via the ground floor of the farmhouse as well as from a separate entrance. It has two double bedrooms with en-suite bathrooms, living and dining room with fireplace, small kitchen and a tiny terrace with the loveliest view. The pool house is a separate, newly built annex that sleeps 2 people. It's a large open plan space which comprises of a kitchen and dining area, seating area with a sofa bed and a bathroom. With 6 bedrooms and 6 bathrooms, San Giovanni Vecchio is perfect for a group of 12 people. Plenty of outside seating and eating space surrounds the property, including an outdoor kitchen. The swimming pool can be seen from the house and stands at a distance of about 30 meters from the farmhouse. It measures 14mx4m, has a minimum depth of 1.20m and a maximum of 1.80m. Surrounded by a large solarium and a terrace; fully furnished with table, chairs and sun beds and shaded by a gazebo, It’s operational from the beginning of April until the end of October. There is also a changing cabin, an outdoor shower and a separate cloakroom. Splash in the beautiful pool, bask under the gazebo, explore this ancient landscape! Guest access The guests can use all the property. They can also use all the outside space: the swimming pool, the garden where they can pick the fruit and vegetables, the outside kitchen with the bbq and the table in the terrace where they can eat. The guests can park the car in front of the house. Other things to note Pets live in the countryside: dogs and cats will not disturb you, they are docile and used to being with children.
