Built to compliment the original schoolhouse on site, the teacher's cottage has all you need to enjoy a quiet and peaceful stay in the rolling countryside. Set in the village of Burnturk, you will have the ideal setting to enjoy country walks or just to curl up by the fireside on a rainy day. The house is built on the school yard from 1901, and the adjacent property is the original school house. Centrally located in Fife, Edinburgh, the East Coastal Neuk and St Andrews are a short drive. The cottage original floor print dates back to 1751 and makes it a unique-one- of a kind building. It is situated in the scenic Fife countryside with many walks on the doorstep but with good access within a short drive to local pubs, restaurants and most importantly the East Neuk Coastal route. It is close to major train and bus links as well as a short drive to Edinburgh and St Andrews. A great central point to base your holiday from. It is a haven for cyclists and walkers alike. Your Hosts - Lesley and Steve live on site, next to The Schoolhouse Cottage, but both properties are detached. We can welcome you on your arrival if you prefer that, or we can leave the key in a lockbox for you to make your own way in. We are on hand if you need any help, questions about the Cottage, or recommendations about the area. Similarly, if you want total peace and quiet with no disturbance, you will get that too! The Schoolhouse Cottage (Sleeps 4, one double bed and one sofa bed) and is a wonderful quiet getaway filled with historic significance where you can relax and enjoy the tranquil countryside. The Schoolhouse Cottage has 1 Bedroom: 1 x king Bedroom with king bed & Ensuite Shower/Bath Room upstairs. PLEASE NOTE: this bedroom is upstairs on a mezzanine with no door. It overlooks the living room and has a wonderful atmosphere. Great for keeping an eye on the kids but not so great if you are uncomfortable sharing sleeping accommodations. 1 x double sofa bed in the main living area. - again please note, this is in the main living area and not an enclosed bedroom. 2nd bathroom with bath and shower on main level All of the living accommodation is on ground floor level and there is a lovely open plan kitchen/dining/sitting area with vaulted open beam ceilings. Dining area seats four. There is a Log Burner which can be set for you on your arrival, together with a complimentary basket of logs Fully equipped kitchen with a fridge/small freezer drawer, dishwasher, microwave, Nespresso coffee machine and washing machine Laundry facilities such as washer dryer, iron and ironing board. There is ample parking for a car. Guest access This listing is for an entire house, with its own private garden. It includes driveway parking off road. The driveway is shared with our main accommodation. There is enough space to park one or possibly two vehicles. If you are bringing a trailer or caravan, please let us know and we can offer some suggestions for parking. Other things to note There is a wood burning fire in the cottage and a bag of wood is provided to get you started. Any additional bags can be purchased and delivered to you for £10 for a basket of 18 pieces. Kindling and firelighters are free. I have a local friend who owns a pet sitting business and lives 1/2 mile from the property, she can provide pet sitting services for your pet as unfortunately we cannot allow pets in our holiday home due to potential guest allergies. PLEASE NOTE: the house is super unqiue and is an open plan design. That means that the upper bedroom over looks the main living area where the sofa bed is located... great for keeping an eye on the kids but it may present a problem if you prefer to have separate sleeping arrangements. Alexa- there is an Alexa device on the shelf in the living room. It does not have a camera and is there for guest enjoyment - ask it the weather or listen to music. If you don’t like it, it can be easily unplugged at the wall socket. Check in is after 4pm and check out is by 10am due to the extensive cleaning that must take place with the new covid regulations.
