The View: idyllic and remote off-grid cabin
The View: idyllic and remote off-grid cabin
Description
*2026 dates (up until July) now open!* Looking for a peaceful, secluded stay immersed in nature, with stunning views and no neighbours? This is the place for you. Hidden away in the hills with the most spectacular view of the Cheviots, The View is a truly unique space. Sitting completely on its own at the edge of the moors, this off-grid modern cabin offers total tranquillity. Head out hill walking by day, then return to relax by the roaring fire and gaze up at the stars. The space Our ethos is to provide a simple but comfortable, tranquil space to 'unplug' from the modern world, with minimal impact on the surrounding environment. Set completely on its own with no surrounding buildings or properties, The View allows you to slow down and truly 'get away from it all'. Given the nature of its location, we ask you to please read all the details before booking to ensure The View is suited to you - particularly if you are looking to book in October. Whilst simple, the cabin comes complete with all the amenities you could need for a comfortable stay. This includes a wood burner, composting loo, hot shower and firepit/BBQ. The kitchen unit boasts a gas camping stove, a sink for washing up, fridge, and kettle. The wood burning stove and king-sized bed ensure you're cosy and comfy. The eco friendly composting toilet is set next to the cabin. Whilst it is basic, please be assured that it is both clean and civilised :) The spacious stable-style hot shower gives you the opportunity to revitalize whilst gazing out over the hills. You will likely have sheep for company and may see deer, buzzards and other wildlife during your stay. Surrounding the cabin you have open access to some exceptionally beautiful moorland walking routes and sites. These include Blawearie, Ros Castle and Cateran Hole (feel free to ask Diana (host) for walking, hiking and wild swimming recommendations). This site is secluded, however it is located on a working farm and therefore you may see occasional farm vehicle on the hill track and the occasional walker passing by. Other than that it really is just you and the company of the stunning views and night sky. We have intentionally left the cabin without Wi-Fi, but there are plugs for charging devices and most networks provide good signal/4g data. Guest access Parking is available nearby to the cabin. Most guests access the cabin by car but you can get to the cabin using public transport too (please ask the host for more information on this if needed). The View is located around 10 miles from Alnwick and 5 miles from Wooler. Having turned off the B6346, you drive up a private road, before meeting a well kept, gravelled track. After passing through a gate you continue on a well kept hill track for around 500 metres. Parking is available on grass near to the cabin. We accept no responsibility for damage to vehicles or other property whilst using the site. Other things to note We ask you to please read the below information before commencing with a booking. *Please remember this is a simple, off-grid site nestled in nature with access via a rough off road track. Dogs are most welcome :) If you are bringing your canine companion please note that we charge an additional pet fee and have some house rules that we expect all dog owners to follow. *Wood logs* - one basket of firewood and a bucket of kindling is included for each stay. More can be purchased from Esso Service Station in Powburn (approx 10 min drive). *Drinking water* - Bottled drinking water will be provided for your stay. We take no responsibility for anyone drinking the water provided from the local hill spring. *Please note that the cabin does not have any blinds or curtains. You may wish to bring an eye mask with you if you are sensitive to the light whilst sleeping. *For October bookings onwards* an occasional game shooting drive may take place near to the cabin (this shouldn't take longer than 2 hours). Please ensure you are ok with this before booking. *For October bookings onwards* - when the days are shorter and the sun doesn’t shine the power supply can be low and may even go completely (the cabin relies on solar power). When this happens there is also no running water. The host may need to top the power up with a generator, but we may not be able to do this right away. By booking you confirm you are aware of, and ok with this. For this reason we offer a lower price for October bookings. Please note we do provide bottled water and battery powered/ solar lanterns. The cabin is generally closed November - February due to the weather and for improvements. It opens again in March. We do occasionally take bookings during this time. If you fancy a stay from Nov- Feb please get in touch.
