Description

Barnes Lea farmhouse has many original features as well as modern comforts including excellent WiFi, and finished to a high standard. Part of the ‘Cliffe Park Farm Stays’ and situated on a working farm with parkland which has 3/4 mile frontage to Rudyard Lake as well as having the Staffordshire Way footpath running through makes this a great base for exploring the beautiful surrounding countryside and visitor attractions. The space Barnes Lea farmhouse is an 18th Century stone built home surrounded by the picturesque hills of the Peak District. Full of rustic charm and original features, the farmhouse and its large private garden will have once been the heart of the farm with stunning views over the neighbouring village below. The farmland - a former Victorian golf course - includes 170 acres of beautiful parkland boasting 3/4 of a mile frontage of the peaceful Rudyard Lake. Right on your doorstep, you will have access to the popular footpath leading to a circular 5-mile public walk around Rudyard Lake, home to the Rudyard Sailing Club where you are able to get involved in activities such as canoeing, cycling, paddleboarding, sailing or even hire your own rowing boat. As well as these activities, surrounding the banks of the Lake, there are many fantastic places to stop for a quick drink or some food, such as the dog-friendly Galley Cafe. Further along the footpath, you will pass Rudyard Station, where you can enjoy a ride on their Miniature Steam Train throughout the day. Guest access The Staffordshire Way runs through the farmland and provides access to a 5 mile walk around the Lake. Guests will also be able to benefit from direct lake access from the farm fields. Other things to note If a children's cot, high-chair or additional bedding is required, please advise prior to arrival.
