The Roses, dog friendly
Description
Just five minutes' walk from the centre of busy Bowness village, The Roses is an inviting period terraced house which offers a warm welcome to lovers of the lakes - and up to two dogs. This super property is cherished as a beloved family home with original features, vintage crockery and furniture. These, along with unguarded steps to the cellar, do make it unsuitable for children under twelve but with four bedrooms offers a cosy haven for up for five adults. The space The living room has a cosy coal-effect gas fire, satellite TV and selection of board games, perfect for snuggling up after a hearty day’s exercise, while the garden courtyard at the rear offers a sheltered retreat when the sun comes out. There is also an outside toilet with small sink. The front door at the top of a small flight of steps opens onto a hallway off which is the living room with sofa, chairs (two of which can be taken outside or used to supplement seating around the dining room table), a selection of games and the fire. Folding wooden doors open to the dining room with gate-legged table that can seat up to six comfortably when opened out. There is also a fridge for wine, beers and accessible perishables such as milk. The compact, well-equipped kitchen offers a dishwasher, a two-oven gas cooker and four-ring hob, pans and casserole dish, and stone steps which lead down to the utility cellar. This has the fridge, freezer and washing machine/tumble dryer. There is also an iron and board and large dog basket. The boiler houses racks and hangers for drying clothes. Family wet weather, life jackets and sailing gear is also available to borrow as are the spare wellies and boots on the cellar steps. There is a small pantry next door. Guests who use any of the house contents are required to replace them as their hosts are regular visitors. The steps front and back and the flights of stairs inside does make this inaccessible to those with limited mobility. Guests can travel by train to Windermere and take a bus or taxi for a five-minute ride to The Roses. You may drive to the back of house to unpack then park on the private space diagonally opposite the back gate (with 109 chalet on it, white post and line and bench at the end) to keep the alley thoroughfare clear. Up the steps behind is a little terraced garden that catches the evening sunshine. Please be mindful of the drop between the two parking spaces and let passengers out before parking. Guest access Parking lot diagonally opposite the back gate and small terraced garden behind. Beware of the steps and the drop between the two parking spaces.
