Description

Discover The Hyde, a luxury, cosy hideout our guests describe as "stunning." Enjoy a slice of paradise year-round with a covered deck, hammocks among the trees, and birdwatching from your bed, plus easy access to the beach for walks or surfs. Perfect for couples seeking romance or solo adventurers looking to relax, the cabin is equipped with all the amenities you need and more. Message to take advantage of our special Christmas or New Year offers, which includes a festive hamper! The space Need somewhere to relax and reset? The Hyde is a perfect little retreat for two. It isn’t just a treehouse or a cabin, but an experience; an invitation to escape. Nestled on the side of a peaceful woodland hill in the grounds of the owner’s home, you can experience the best of both worlds; a glorious valley, a UNESCO World Heritage Site with its many ancient engine houses and, just a short walk away, the stunning, world-renowned surfing beach of Porthtowan. The Hyde is a magical pole-built luxury treehouse with a designer styled boutique interior where every consideration has been given to our guests’ comfort and enjoyment. An exciting find, with its off-road parking, private entrance, self-check-in and no neighbours, you can stay in and experience that rare commodity totally undisturbed – peace and quiet. Alternatively, as the treehouse is perfectly positioned between St Agnes and St Ives, you can check out the guidebooks and explore Cornwall. We look forward to welcoming you to The Hyde and hope this goes a little way to reassure you of our dedication to providing you with a great experience. LIVING AND EATING The cosy open-plan living room is perfectly warm in winter when you draw the interlined curtains and cool in summer when you throw open the doors to the deck. Furnished in an eclectic, Bohemian style complete with a large, comfy sofa, it’s the perfect place to nestle in with a good book, cuddle up to watch your favourite box sets or listen to your playlist. The kitchen area, decorated with tiles from Piccolpasso, is fully equipped with everything you need to serve up a feast in style inside, or outside on the hanging deck, including the essential Nespresso coffee maker for your morning coffee, an easy to operate Heston Blumenthal barbecue for a romantic al-fresco meal for two and a welcoming Cornish tea of homemade scones and clotted cream. SLEEPING The bedroom is just the right size for an incredibly comfy king-size bed made up with Tielle Love Luxury sumptuous bedlinen just as you find in the famous ‘Le Manoir aux Quat’Saisons’ for that hotel feel and a choice of pillows. Wake up gently to bird song and open the French doors to experience the tranquillity. Should there be rain,“ A downpour on the tin roof relaxes the mind, blocks out distractions and helps you to sleep,” … so we have been told. BATHING The en-suite shower room is decorated with tiles from the papal palace at Avignon (just for fun) and has a large walk-in rainfall shower, constant hot water, masses of fluffy towels and robes, heated towel rail, hairdryer and lots of Noble Isle shampoo and shower gel for a treat. Don’t always expect high pressure as the water comes from a deep well, but you will have all the benefits of pure water, free from chemicals, leaving your hair and skin feeling as if you have been to the spa. Alternatively, pick up your robe, step onto the deck and enjoy the novelty of an outside shower with hot and cold water. You won’t be disturbed. WORKING In these days when working from home has become the norm, The Hyde is the perfect place to combine work and play. Not only do we have excellent Wi-Fi connection with superfast download and upload speeds and capacity, but we can give long-stay guests the use of a garden office/library with a large desk and comfy office chair where you won’t be interrupted whilst you are making Zoom calls. OUTSIDE The Hyde is approached via a private field with a hard-core drive (so you won’t get stuck) and ample off-road parking. A short pathway into the wood leads off level ground to the treehouse, so there is no need to climb. The woods surrounding the property, with daffodils and bluebells in springtime, and hammocks suspended in the trees are for the sole use of our guests. Rugs and cushions are provided for more chilly days. A pathway leads down to a totally private garden with loungers and cushions where you can sunbathe, enjoy a picnic, or a glass of wine and a barbecue, on a summer's evening. COVID Reassurance in these uncertain times concerning hygiene: Clean, Clean, Clean. The Hyde's housekeeper would like to reassure all our guests of our cleaning regime. Those of our guests who have stayed with us previously are well aware of our exceptional standards. The Hyde receives a deep clean in between each and every booking which includes the disinfecting of all hard surfaces, handles, knobs etc. including door keys and deck rails. The bedlinen and towels are all professionally laundered. Clean pillows, duvets, rugs, and blankets are provided for every guest; we don’t just change the covers! Our housekeeper works for us directly. She is not agency staff, is extremely proud of her work and may be regarded as the best in the industry. WASHING MACHINE AND DRYING MACHINE The use of your host's washing machine and drying machine located in their home nearby is available on request. Guest access The Hyde is accessed through a gate off the road leading from Mount Hawke to Porthtowan. The gate leads into our field next to the copse where the cabin is located and there is plenty of parking. A hard-core drive protects our guests from stepping in mud during the worst of weather! The entire property is available for guests only, including the secluded, hillside garden. We respect your privacy and want you to benefit from the peace and quiet of the beautiful surroundings, undisturbed. Other things to note Strictly no children, infants, dogs or cats for reasons of safety. Please note, access to the property is through a field full of brambles and wildflowers. Remember your walking shoes, or boots during wet weather! The property is located 1.1 miles ( a 20 minute walk through a beautiful valley) from Porthtowan beach. Mobile phone signal in this area of Cornwall is weak. To compensate we have installed super- fast full fibre broadband/WiFi. We supply soap, shampoo, conditioner, loo paper, hairdryer, all linen including beach towels, indoor and outdoor shower (with constant hot and cold water) and a BBQ. Please only use the BBQ supplied and only use in a safe place. We supply a starter pack of charcoal and natural fire-lighters. There is a first aid kit in the bathroom drawer and a supply of things you may forget to pack, such as a toothbrush or razor and a multi USB charger.
