Grade II Cosy Cottage on edge of Exmoor
Description
A Grade 2 listed Georgian Cottage in the heart of beautiful Bampton in Devon. Shops, cafes, restaurants and bars are within easy walking distance. A traditional butchers, fabulous fruit and veg shop, dehli and convenience stores are very close by. There are also a few other interesting shops. This historic Charter Town lies in mid Devon near the Devon/Somerset border on the edge of Exmoor National Park, with a 'Walkers Are Welcome' status. Easy access to both North and South coasts. The space Built in the early 1800s this terraced town cottage with its large 20 pane Georgian front window was probably originally a shop in the centre of town. We know it was a cobblers/leather makers and possibly a jeweller's at some point. Formally known as Duck Paddle Street, Brook Street has a leat each side channelling water from the Shuttern Brook before it joins the River Batherm. The living room/dining area has a log burner and black limestone floor which extends through to the kitchen. A small enclosed yard with bench and planting is accessed via French windows from the kitchen. Also on the ground floor is the main bathroom - newly built and fitted with 'P' shaped bath and shower. Upstairs there are two good sized single bedrooms and a master bedroom with en suite fitted with shower, WC and sink. There is a seperate 'secret' garden accessed via archways and a 19th Century cobbled cart track to the side of the building. The sunny, quiet, wildlife friendly garden has views across Bampton rooftops to the surrounding hills and the 11th century Castle Motte.
