Simple accommodation in a renovated tin shed. Unique, Natural, Private, Rustic, Affordable; Beautiful garden/bush setting with wildlife. Sleeps up to 5; Queen, single, 2 camp beds. Basic kitchen, fridge etc. Shared bathroom is located in external building. Easy going owner with comprehensive local knowledge of things to do . The space The accommodation is basic but in a pleasant, private tin shed, in a natural setting with a botanical collection of plants and with abundant wildlife. The shared bathroom is nice but in an external building 40 meters away from the accommodation. (Some people find the walk to the bathroom inconvenient at night or when raining). Also, the rain on the tin roof in the shed can be noisy when we get occasional torrential downpours (that's the tropics). This somewhat secluded and private property is off the main road, surrounded by rain-forest and beaches, but with access to cafes and shops several kilometers away. Your own transport is highly recommended. Instant access to some of Australia's most pristine tropical beaches, Islands and rain forest walks. Islands include Australia's iconic Dunk Island. Over a dozen great restaurants and cafes close by. I am happy to be available to guests on a daily basis as my work allows, having lived in the region for the past 35 years I have a broad knowledge of the local history and places of interest, and i am keen to advise guests of some of the wonderful regions to explore. There is mobile Internet reception (not Vodaphone) and limited Wifi available upon request if required. Guest access Guests will have access to parking, the garden and a shared outside bathroom which is separate from their accommodation but within easy reach and private. The walk to the bathroom at night is annoying to some. Laundry facilities are available upon request. Refrigeration, simple cooking and kitchenette facilities are available in accommodation. Access to owners house is by arrangement only. Two beaches within 5 minutes walk. Other things to note Cassowaries are occasional visitors to the garden as are many other wildlife species including wallabies, goannas, lizards, honey-eaters, cockatoos and various marsupials. There are very few snakes and spiders in this area although large harmless pythons and tree snakes are occasionally seen. Lizards and occasionally pet chickens may come to visit. At some times of the year(usually summer) bugs of different species can be present. Mosquito repellent coils and nets are provided, and the shed is screened. The bathroom is in an older building, quaint and tidy but set in the garden, some 40 meters from the accommodation.
