The space Our Birch Loft/Y Lloft Bedw is a welcoming, cosy and peaceful retreat to base yourself and relax, after a day exploring the beautiful Dyfi Biosphere on your doorstep, and Snowdonia National Park just 10 mins away. Soak up stunning panoramic tree canopy and mountain views from your private terrace. Look across the garden, Ynyshir Nature Reserve and Dyfi Estuary, to the Tarren mountains of Southern Snowdonia. If you’re lucky you may see an Osprey flying above the estuary! Lie back in your double hammock and watch the Red Kites, Swifts or floating clouds overhead, or take a blanket and watch the stars at night with a hot chocolate. Plan your adventures and enjoy your breakfast on the picnic table on the terrace, or in the cosy lounge looking out to the wonderful uninterrupted views. Perhaps practice yoga inside or out on the terrace, with the mat and roll provided. Sit around the firepit at the bottom of the garden and watch the flames or toast marshmallows, recounting your day. Explore from your door, the wild, quiet nature of the local hills and mountains, oceanic wooded valleys with tumbling waterfalls, saltmarsh, seashore and sand dunes ... and totally unwind. 'Brynhyfryd' (translated 'lovely hill'), a characterful 1830 cottage, has been extended to provide a private light, spacious guest annex. The space is ideally suited for a couple or young family. Please note: ‘Brynhyfryd’ is set in the middle of our village, through which the A487 runs. During holiday season this road is intermittently busy, but is quiet in the evenings. The bus stops directly outside for buses to Machynlleth, and opposite for buses to Aberystwyth. Beautiful walks into the hills straight from your door. Ynyshir RSPB Reserve and Ynyshir Hall are both a stroll away. A short drive/bus ride to Southern Snowdonia and Cadair Idris; Osprey Reserve 5 mins drive; beach and dunes 10 mins; Dyfi bike trails a short drive away. Dyfi Junction train station (out on the Dyfi Saltmarsh) within walking/cycling distance, with trains to Aberystwyth and Machynlleth, and along the beautiful Cambrian Coast. Free facilities are provided to wash and store your bikes safely, and to wash and dry clothes (for a small fee). Electric car charging is available at the nearby Cletwr award-winning community cafe and shop (40 mins for full charge). We provide organic fairtrade teas, hot chocolate, and coffee. The private space available to you includes: -Outdoor first floor terrace: Picnic table (seating 6); parasol; double hammock. -Outdoor portable firebowl/barbecue: the fire-bowl is to be used in the lower garden (place on stand) or off site. Folding chairs are in the annex corridor. Open plan living room/ kitchen: Kitchen: worktop with sink & drainer, 2 ring convection hob, fridge, microwave, toaster, kettle, cafetière & teapot, crockery, utensils, glasses, chopping board, cutlery etc. Baby feeding bowl, beaker and utensils available on request. Living-room: TV with Amazon Firestick, DVD player (large selection of DVDs on bedroom bookshelves), stored hammock, yoga mat and roll, iron & board. Bathroom: roll-top bath with a hand-held shower. Our water is heated by an Air Source Heat Pump. Vegan-friendly bathing products. Night lights, oil burner and fairy lights. Fold up stool can be made available for little ones to reach the sink. A portable changing mat is also available on request. Bedroom: blanket, throw, books on Wales incl. guides and maps, DVDs, earplugs, desk, chair, desk lamp, hairdryer, neck wrap, hot water bottle, beach towels. A travel cot or a single child’s mattress are both available on request. Hall: Geology map of the UK, OS Pathfinder map of the Dyfi and Southern Snowdonia, beach mats, walking poles, golf umbrella, head torch, nature and travel books, adventure books, novels, poetry and more books! Guest access The Birch Loft/Y LloftBedw annex is a self-contained first-floor apartment, accessed via external wooden stairs leading up from the car port. The stairs lead up to the large viewing terrace with picnic table, double hammock, and sun parasol. You’re also welcome to use the garden below. The key safe is upstairs, next to the French doors of the loft. Parking is available for up to 2 cars in the drive (in addition to my own). Other things to note Price based on a booking for one or two people sharing the double bed. If the double futon and extra bedding are required, there is a surcharge of £20, payable a week before your visit. Please don't allow my cat into the annex because of guest allergies. Thanks. :)
