Quiet & peaceful getaway - Take a step back in time with Woodchoppers Inn, an over 100 year old colonial cottage owned by the Great Great Grandchildren of the original family that built it in 1890. Great retreat for Fisherman! The space Woodchoppers Inn – 26 Wylam Street Location is in the middle of the southern part of South Island, town is part of a small friendly, rural community. Wifi and Chrome Cast is now available!! :0) Facilities include bathroom, two bedrooms with double beds, front door does open up into the first bedroom as it is a colonial cottage layout, living/lounge and self-contained kitchen is back part of house which includes microwave, George Foreman grill, small oven and gas hob to cook on. Tea, coffee, sugar, salt and pepper are supplied :0) Within easy walking distance is the local pub (please note pub is closed on a Monday), café, dairy, and the must see museum and bottle house. Also in close proximity are amazing views, Piano Flats, Waikaka, golf course and tennis courts across the road and access to fishing and goldmining in the Waikaia River. Sleeps 4x ppl, suitable for family or two couples, can set up stretchers to accommodate extra people. Help yourself to books, games, puzzles, DVDs, bikes, fishing rods and gold pans. Heat pump and oil heater to use at your convenience. This is an old school kiwi batch, if you are after all the mods and cons another listing maybe better suited to you ;0) NOTE: we are in the middle of renovating our sleep out which is where they done all the washing in the old copper back in the day! So unfortunately for YOUR OWN SAFETY it is out of bounds especially for children. HISTORY of Woodchoppers Inn Built in 1890 This is the first house My (Kelly) Great-Great Grandparents built when they first came over to New Zealand. As you walk in the front door straight into the first bedroom the two lads in the pictures on wall are my Great-Uncles, the girl standing in front of the house in the lounge picture is my Great-Grandma Elsie who lived till 95 long years and made the best scones! The kitchen and bathroom were added in the 80s, traditionally toilet was outside and all cooking was achieved on coal range.
