Room (with external but private bathroom) restored in keeping with tradition, for those looking for a simple and quiet place, surrounded by greenery and silence, to spend a peaceful vacation, with a spirit of discovery and sharing: you will be our guests for dinner on the evening of arrival and, if you like our cuisine, you can book for the following evenings. We also organize boat trips in the archipelago of La Maddalena to learn about the history and nature of the islands. The space "Lu Furracu" Stazzo. The stazzo is the typical rural Gallura settlement, characterized by the extreme dispersion of the population over the territory: the first settlers, instead of founding villages, decided to spread throughout Gallura in tiny family nuclei that, being several kilometers apart, had to be completely self-sufficient. The inhabitants of the stazzo were thus at the same time farmers and shepherds, capable of building houses, dry stone walls, fences, work tools, clothes, shoes and everything they might need. This way of life is now considered a real culture in its own right: "the culture of the stazzi". Since the territory was very barren and rich in granite outcrops, these often extended over several hundred hectares. The house was the center of the nucleus and around it were built, often in a circular shape, the enclosures for the cattle, the vegetable garden, the vineyard, the orchard and the fields. Many of these features are still found in our old stazzo which, abandoned in the 1960s, and miraculously escaped the questionable "Costa Smeralda" style renovations, allowed us to intervene with a careful restoration to leave the signs that time has left on the old structures unaltered. We used only recycled materials and each operation was preceded by scrupulous observations and research on the ways of building and living of those who preceded us, so as not to risk altering proportions and harmonies that only the wisdom and sensitivity of generations of farmers were able to create. Particular care has been reserved for the outdoors, to try to insert, in a context of majestic granites and old shady trees, quiet corners where you can relax. The stazzo is located in the "rear," sheltered from the clamor of the coast, which is still reachable in a few minutes: about 8 km to the east is the beach of Rena Majore, before a long series of very white beaches that extend for over 10 km, allowing even in high season, to find space to be quiet. 10 km away, but to the north, is the tourist port of Porto Pozzo, from where you can embark on a tour of the La Maddalena archipelago or rent a dinghy. In this setting, we offer two houses with 4 beds (1 double and 1 bunk bed), complete with kitchen and bathroom to organize your stay in complete autonomy. They are listed on Airbnb as "quiet and traditional" and "tradition and tranquility". Both have a shaded outdoor space for outdoor dining. We also have two double bedrooms with private bathrooms ("room between tradition and tranquility" and "room among the stars") that can be booked alone or combined with one of the houses to accommodate larger groups. The houses are furnished with old furniture and complete with everything you need, including linens (sheets, towels….) and some small food supplies. A washing machine is available for guests. We are committed to sustainable behavior by eliminating the superfluous (we have no TVs, air conditioners or irons). We use a photovoltaic system for electricity, a solar pump for the well and the heating is wood-burning. We ask you to collaborate by reducing energy and water consumption (in Sardinia it is a particularly valuable resource). To limit waste production, we invite you to correctly separate waste and not buy water in plastic bottles (we provide drinking water). For light travelers, we also provide beach umbrellas and towels upon request. We organize daily excursions, for small groups, by dinghy, kayak and bicycle in the archipelago of La Maddalena to swim in the most beautiful beaches, visit the old military batteries, snorkel, observe and discover the magnificent nature of the islands directly with Andrea, guide of the National Park. Guest access It is possible to park inside the property a short distance from the houses to leave the garden available to all. During your stay It is our custom to invite guests to dinner on the evening of arrival. If you like our cuisine, you can book for the following evenings. We use mostly the products of our garden; for meat, wine and cheeses we turn to local suppliers. We also produce honey, eggs and excellent myrtle and citrus liqueurs. We also organize daily excursions by dinghy in the Park of La Maddalena to bathe in the most beautiful beaches, visit the old military batteries, snorkel, observe and discover the magnificent nature of the archipelago. Andrea has the title of hiking guide of La Maddalena Park! We have bicycles and kayaks available for sports holidays! Other things to note Our house is in the open countryside, far from everything, so we recommend arriving during the day to get your bearings. The last km of the road is unpaved but in good condition. We are not reachable by public transport, so you need to have your own means of transportation. The nature around us is extremely vital and it is therefore easy to come across tortoises, partridges, foxes, wild boars, geckos and some spiders as well as our dogs, cats and chickens. It is therefore not a suitable place for those with animal phobias and is instead welcoming for those with their own.
