Stone Country Cottage

Very private, quaint stone cottage in the Townland of Coomkeen, on the Sheep's Head Peninsula (the Wild Atlantic Way), Ireland's best hiking country. Two Miles to village of Durrus, five miles from town of Bantry. Cottage was originally built in 1845 by my great uncle. ceilings in kitchen are low, in order for fireplace to keep warm. There are odd heights in doors typical for the era., PLEASE BE ADVISED PERHAPS A CHALLENGE FOR VERY TALL VISITORS. Or you can take a walk back in time and enjoy. The space Peggy's Cottage has unique qualities, and is fully furnished, including many Irish pine antiques. Queen Bed in ground floor bedroom, Double bed in upstairs bedroom. Quality Mattresses on both beds. Slate floors and stone walls in most of cottage. Electricity is included. Kitchen wood burning stove, and bedroom storage heaters make for a warm, cozy cottage all year. New full bath on first floor. Although kitchen is basic (no dishwasher) it is fully tricked out by the owner, who loves to cook. All linens are high quality. Washer and dryer located in outbuilding steps from the cottage door. Mature garden with herbs for kitchen use, and sweeping valley views. Night sky free of artificial lights! A wonderful base for seeing West Cork. No one will disturb, but caretaker is at neighboring farm for any needed assistance. Perfect hideaway for two - also plenty of space for children to play, and a very cold stream to dip your feet in. Other things to note Wifi services are no longer provided to the cottage by the telephone company, however, there is a strong local signal for a wifi hotspot/dongle. The best wifi service is the one that is available to rent from your car rental company. However, there are hotspots available for rent from other mobile phone service providers. Americans who activate international cell service with your provider typically get a strong enough signal for email and texting (you may need to move around a couple of feet to find the sweet spot for full LTE).
