Fabulous Character Cottage in Hay

Located in Hay on Wye, 5 minutes walk from the centre, with original stone cottage features and wood burning stove, our 1 bedroom cottage is perfect for a romantic getaway, to indulge in quiet luxury, a walk in the Brecon Beacons or comfortable business travel. Enjoy a fun and fabulous stay!​ The space The cottage retains its beautiful original features of stone slab floors and traditional wood panelling with exposed details of stone walls and timbers. It has been beautifully and stylishly modernised and refurbished throughout. Downstairs, the cosy front living room has a wood burning stove and a TV with DVD player. We do not have satellite but the TV is set up so you can log into iPlayer or your own Amazon or Netflix account. The kitchen is well equipped for your cooking needs with a gas hob and electric oven. There is a stylish Bosch fridge-freezer and also a washer-dryer with a quick wash setting. The sunroom/dining room to the rear of the property has double patio doors, which lead to the pretty cottage garden and seating area. Upstairs the cottage has been opened out to provide a fully open plan space with en-suite shower room and dressing room immediately off the master bedroom. The cottage is advertised as a luxury space, perfect for and intended for couples - being just one bedroom. We have maximised the upstairs space to create a beautiful super-king bedroom on one side of the upstairs, opening on the other side to an en-suite shower room with dressing room, whilst still incorporating the option to screen off the shower and toilet area should you wish. This screen, while providing visual privacy does not provide great audio privacy. Equivalent to what you may experience in an en-suite boutique hotel, guests typically love the high quality furnishings, comfort and design of this space, which has a fabulous electric, adjustable, Tempur super-king size bed. It is worth noting that our cottage is a very characterful small stone period cottage with low ceilings and doorways. The staircase is also quite steep. For ourselves and most guests, this all adds to its charm but please take care if, like us, you are reasonably tall (5'10" or above) when going through doorways. Guest access Guests have sole use of the house during their stay. There is no rear access to the property, making the back garden and patio area delightfully secluded. Other things to note There is ample on-street parking adjacent to the cottage to the left and the right. You can park to unload luggage directly in front of the cottage. There is a free car park just a minute's walk away. We provide bed linen, bath towels, and all bathroom essentials including shampoo and hand soap. We also provide a very well equipped kitchen - 'a real cook's kitchen' according to some of our guests - including all the basics of tea towels, paper towels, dish soap and condiments. The cottage has a new gas central heating system with a HIVE thermostat so that you have direct control of the temperature during your stay. Guest access You have the whole cottage and its garden to yourselves. Other things to note Although there is a television and DVD player in the cottage, we do not have any TV service - no Sky, no BT Tv, no Freeview. You can, however, watch BBC iPlayer or log in to your own Amazon or Netflix account using the super fast WiFi. We have a high quality Ruark R2 Mk 3 Streaming Music Player which can play DAB, FM or internet radio, Spotify, or connect to your phone or MPV Player via Bluetooth. There are no interior doors in the cottage. Please note that the ensuite shower room (with toilet) is only separated from the bedroom by a screen. It does not provide perfect privacy whilst using the facilities! Please note that the stairs in this old cottage are quite steep.
