Description
Self-contained annex to 15th century farmhouse in North Monmouthshire. The cart house has a chic, modern feel, with oak floors and fittings set off against quirky antique furniture and contemporary glass tables. The light, airy atmosphere during the day is transformed into a cosy space for evening relaxing. The large bedroom has a double bed and designer en-suite bathroom with power shower and twin sinks. The views are spectacular across the farm and beyond to the iconic Skirrid mountain. The space The Cart House is a 17th century barn which has been recently restored using local green oak and other sustainable materials. It is heated by biomass and electricity comes from our wind turbine and PV panels. The house has a fully-equipped, twin hob mini-kitchen, with microwave combi oven, a full size fridge and stainless sink. We provide ecological cleaning materials and avoid use of chemicals wherever possible. There is a large dining table and a stylish leather sofa, which can be converted into a full size double bed for additional guests. Guest access There is a large patio outside the Cart House, which is perfect for watching the evening sun go down behind the Skirrid. Guests are also free to roam around the farm. We are fully organic and breed sustainable rare-breed sheep - many of which end up in top London restaurants, but which are also available locally and to guests. The fields are rich in wildlife and there are some great spots for picnics. There is ample car parking next to the property. Other things to note Monmouthshire is well known as a great place for local food and drink and the annual Abergavenny Food Festival draws people from across the UK. The Hay Literary Festival is half an hour's drive away and we are ten miles from the Green Man Festival.
