The Ohope Beach Bungalow

The Ohope Beach bungalow is nestled on a secret grassy reserve that shares extensive views of both the ocean and the harbour of Port Ohope. The bungalow includes all the comforts of a modern home (3 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, 2 lounges, table seating 8+, bbq, 60” smart tv, games, washer and dryer) and two decks to enjoy the coastal beauty that surrounds us at Port Ohope. The space The Beach Bungalow exudes the character of yesteryear with modern conveniences and easy access to all that Port Ohope has to offer. We have large rooms and queen / king beds to comfortably sleep 6 people in style. For larger groups or events: the Bungalow can accommodate up to 10 people if you ask to use mattresses, or couches, for extra sleeping. Those staying at the bungalow also have access to some beach toys (kayaks, stand-up paddle boards, boogie boards, and beach chairs). Guest access The bungalow, its front and back decks, the side yard, and the neighboring reserve are for your use. Other things to note Within walking distance are: the beach, the harbour, the PortOhope Wharf for fishing & jumping into the harbour, the Wharf shed (rentals, cafe and summer weekend events), the Golf Club, The Fishermans Wharf Restaurant, and the Port Ohope Store and cafe. Within driving distance, you can enjoy hot pools, mountain bike trails, the Mataatua Marae, horse riding, charter boat hire, surfboard and kayak hire, hiking, art galleries & museums, pa sites, culture walks, & marae stays, helicopter rides, bush walks, tours to Moutohora/whale island, berry picking, community hydroslide and pool, numerous children's parks, and shopping/dining in Whakatane. Easy day trips include Rotorua: Rotorua Redwood trails, Skyline Luge; Opotiki: the Waioeka Gorge, the East Coast, Motu Trials; Tauranga: Waimarino Water Adventure Park, Bayfair and the Crossing Shopping Malls, and the village, beach, and hikes around Mount Maunagnui. *There is also a separate, self-contained, studio in one wing of the house, listed as the Harbour~Sea Studio, which can also be booked to sleep an additional 2-4 people.
