Description

Nearly wild camping spot complete with a firepit located next to Loch Ken, 8 miles from Castle Douglas. A short drive from the Galloway Activity Centre, our fields are an ideal base to enjoy wild swimming, bird watching, fishing, walking, paddle boarding and star gazing from our field. We are a working farm so you may have a friendly sheep visitor too! Drax are not allowing people to fish on the land by the water. To find somewhere to fish on the loch contact the new Galloway shop. The space The pitch is one of three in our large field and parking is allowed next to your tent. Located to the side of the field is a wood and across the road another wood. You will have direct access to the loch which is why this pitch is £5 more expensive than our other field. There will be other campers accessing the loch in this pitch's field. Please adhere to Loch Ken zone rules. Water activities can only take place in the bay area of the loch, or to explore the loch turn right out of high speed zone. Enjoy the breathtaking landscape but note we have a ‘leave no trace ‘ policy so bring a spade as there are no toilets or running water - just plenty of trees and a Loch! The field is on a working farm so livestock may be near by or grazing in the fields during the day. Please note : Take all your rubbish away Be thoughtful if there are other campers in the field (no noise after 10 pm if there are) No hen or stag parties Dogs only on a lead as we are a working stock farm Water activities can only take place in the bay area of the loch, or to explore the loch turn right out of high speed zone. Guest access You will have direct access to the Loch. Please be careful when launching your canoe or paddle board and ensure you're following Loch Ken zone rules. Other things to note We are a working farm and often have animals grazing in the fields and nearby. Don't be alarmed if a friendly sheep comes to say hi or you spot a cow and bull in the field next door
