5m Yurt Tucked Away In Secluded ‘Birch Hollow’
Description
Stay at Treflach Farm and explore the Shropshire/N. Wales border (the Marches). There is a little kitchenette & honesty bar in the Leyland Arms and luxury toilet and shower facilities in the straw bale eco build 150m from the yurt. A double bed with bedding is provided (please bring your own towels), let us know if you need a second double bed. Birch Hollow is fenced and so dogs are welcome to be let off a lead (please keep dogs on a lead elsewhere on the farm). The space In August 2006 I returned to the family farm from working in London and abroad in the Petrochemical Industry beginning a journey to revitalise a small scale, hillside farm in the family since 1904. The aim was to prove that small scale agriculture can indeed be environmentally aware, promote biodiversity and remain viable in the modern world. Today we here at Treflach Farm look after the land and animals, run courses & make delicious veggie, Gluten Free and free-range meat pies in our on-site bakery (feel free to place an order of a pie or two available on your arrival!). A real working farm, we have free range grass fed Hereford cattle and outdoor pigs. We also work with a wide range of client groups including primary school children, young adults with behavioural difficulties, learning difficulties and disabilities, and adults with mental health issues. Guest access You are welcome to explore all parts of the farm and meet the animals. Other things to note There are lots of walks to go on across the farm, there are nature reserves to visit next door and a canal (with canoes available to hire) a 10 minute drive away. The ‘hot tub’ outdoor bath is fed with piping hot water from our ground source heat pump and fills in about 5 minutes. While it may look a little rustic, when sitting in hot water looking over the Shropshire plain with a glass of something tasty - it’s pretty magical! There is an outdoor kithen in 'Birch Hollow' with a BBQ/tongs and a little gas primus stove, outdoor fridge, cutlery and crockery. Included is a bag of sticks for the BBQ or the fire pit, there are more hard wood sticks available to buy from the little on-site honesty farm shop in the car park. Also available in the farm shop is meat (sausages/bacon/burgers/steaks) and (meat and veggie) pies from the farm, take a look at our web-shop if you'd like to order anything specific as we don't hold the whole range at any one time. The toilet and shower block is a 5 minute walk up the hill from the yurt however there is a private compost toilet for emergencies! There are other private platforms available for dining and sunbathing or you could hire a bell tent or two from us and invite some friends or family to join you! We have blow up mattresses that will fit in the yurt available for kids. Get in touch to discuss your requirements. There is power in the yurt for phones etc and lights too. There is a kettle with complimentary tea bags inside while there is hot and cold water at the outdoor kitchen 20m away. Wifi is available in the courtyard (near a fully equiped kitchenette available for use 24/7) but not in the yurt. While there is a just one double bed in the yurt you can request one or two extra camp beds for kids (with bedding) for no extra charge. Please let us know. You are welcome to hire any of our other bell tents (5 minute walk away from the yurt) for extra guests. There is penty of space available for your own tents near the yurt too. Please note due to the unusually dry spring the wild swimming pool is very low, enough for a plunge but not enough to swim. Apologies.
