This simple and charming detached Bothy sits on the Wales/Herefordshire borders on the edge of the Black Mountains and the Brecon Beacons National Park, it is perfect for couples or individuals, but sorry no dogs. The area is rich in wildlife and perfect for walking, cycling, fishing, bird/nature watching or simply relaxing. The village of Longtown is nearby (2 miles) with its very own 12th century castle, a traditional local pub/restaurant and an excellent shop selling local produce . The space This small but perfectly formed Bothy has an open plan space downstairs with original flagstone floor, handmade oak kitchen area, full size cooker and fridge and a cosy wood burning stove. The property is well equipped for self catering and a small welcome basket with biscuits and savoury snacks is provided along with uht milk sachets, tea,coffee, sugar, salt, pepper, herbs and olive oil. There are two comfy tub chairs with plump cushions and a small table and folding chairs, a multi-fuel stove warms the whole building in addition there is also a small panel heater in the living space. The first basket of logs and coal is complementary further logs can provided at £5 per bag on request from host or can be purchased in the local shop. There is a fully tiled wet room downstairs, with W.C. , hand basin, electric shower, and heated towel rail. Bath and hand towels are provided. The sleeping loft has one low double bed and low beams. It is accessed via a fixed handmade oak ladder so not suitable for anyone with limited mobility. There is a television in the sleeping loft and an electric heater, there are two small bedside cabinets and small hanging rail upstairs. All bedding is provided. There is a sunny private garden with spectacular views, paved patio with table, chairs, umbrella, deck chairs and a small charcoal bbq and tools for your exclusive use. Late check in (8pm - 10pm) possible with prior notice. Guest access The Olchon Bothy is situated on a quiet rural lane with private parking, you will have exclusive use of the property and garden during your stay. Other things to note Covid- we expect guests to comply any current laws and the spirit of the law in relation to covid and to continue to carry out good practices to prevent the spread of covid such as hand hygiene, mask wearing where appropriate and we actively support and encourage good ventilation in the property. There is no wi-fi at the property, there is mobile phone signal with most networks but it tends to be patchy in this rural area. Comfy indoor shoes are recommended as there is a flagstone floor downstairs and wooden floor in sleeping area.
