Description

Newly renovated 100 years old house as agrotourism unit situated on a hill (600 meters above sea level) in a small village next to astonishing natural park Akamas. 10 min drive from the nicest beaches in Cyprus. Excellent climate & great views. The space KTIMA 1937 Kannides is a traditional house that has been tastefully renovated and converted into a complex of five apartments in Droushia Village, Paphos District. KTIMA 1937 Kannides started its operations in June 2013. The Complex consists of five self catering apartments (four one-bedroom and one two-bedroom). Each apartment has a well equipped kitchen, sitting room, TV, Wi-Fi internet access, air-conditioning and fire place or wood-stove for a cold winter months. Apartments are set around free form swimming pool, where guests can relax on the wooden sun beds and enjoy drinks and snacks from a pool bar which also serves breakfast (Working hours of the bar depend on season). The original house was built by Spyros Kannides and his wife Marikka Kannides in the late 1920's. It was passed on to one of their sons Savvas Rikkos Kannides (born in 1937) and finally to their grand children. The house had eleven rooms which have been renovated and transformed into five apartments. The property was originally used for family farming, mainly chickens, rabbits and pigeons. The stone built pigeon house has been reconstructed and can be seen on the property today. Guest access Pool Satellite Free WIFI Free parking Other things to note Akamas peninsula is rich in flora and fauna. The area is unaffected by development and it is a home for many migrating birds and a nesting place for sea turtles. Legend says that after swimming in the crystal clear waters of Akamas bay Aphrodite walked up the hill to bathe in a small pool fed with fresh mountain spring water. This special place has become known as the Baths of Aphrodite. Ancient churches of Saint George Nikoxilides, Osia Maria and Saint Kononas are just some of more than 100 ancient churches in the area. Droushia Rocks are the most popular climbing destinations in Cyprus. Polis is a seaside town 10 min drive from Droushia. Its fishing port Latchi is famous for good fish restaurants. Cruises to Akamas are available from Latchi. Local "Phenomenon" You would expect your car when put in neutral to be moving downhill, right? There's a spot on the road, just at the edge of the village (ask for directions) - carefully drop into neutral and watch what happens!
